I was thinking of heading up next Thursday. I have not been to the area this year. Does anyone have a report?

I was there a couple of weeks ago. Spirit Lake was best for us for smallmouth. The locals I spoke with had been taking smallmouth on Power Tubes or Frenzy Rattlers. Roach Rig with redtail is also good.

On West Lake try drop-shot rigs on the deeper structures. You will catch smallmouth and almost anything else that is holding on these deeper areas. Tie a hook anywhere from 12-18 inches above a splitshot, use a Power Drop-shot bait, and fish vertically. Watch the depth-finder to make sure you are over structure and fish.
