WEST OKOOBJI has a fair perch bite working the deep green weed clumps at the north end, Eagle Point or Millers Bay. Legal walleyes are tough to come by in the daylight hours. Try a Fireball jig and minnow or a live bait rig with a chub. Work them on steep dropoffs. Night fisherman are doing better working docks or current areas. Some muskie activity continues in Emerson and Smith Bay. Some good northern pike are active, especially to the live bait fisherman. West Okoboji is in the turnover process, some years it takes a week, some years several weeks.
EAST OKOBOJI has a fair panfish bite at the north end of the lake. There is some perch activity off Jingles Point.
BIG SPIRIT LAKE has a slow bite on perch, you can catch a meal but you had better be prepared to move often. Walleyes are slow during the daytime. If possible, wade or fish current areas after dark casting a Power Grub or shallow running Frenzy.
THE LITTLE SIOUX RIVER has a good daytime bite at the dam at Linn Grove. Cast a Power Grub for best results.
There is some walleye activity on ELK LAKE and LOST ISLAND, especially in the evening.
Keep a tight line and may your aim be straight. Jim McDonnell, The Fishing Professor, is a professional fishing guide on the Iowa Great Lakes. He can be contacted at 712 933-5532.
