I'm replacing my 8 year old Eagle (doesn't even have gray line). $500 is my absolute max. Inland fishing--not great lakes. What's the concensus??

My vote goes to the Lowrance X-85. Excellent features and reliability and I believe Reed's has them on sale.

Right now, from Reed's you can get a Zercom 2000 for 400 bucks. A great fishfinder. My experience with x85's has not been good. I know others like them, but I've had bad interference problems and even Lowrance couldn't help.

Wait a couple months if you decide on the 85, which is an excellent locator, because they will be going way down in price with the introduction of the X-91.

try a zercom lpg160 or the lpg2000.i got the 2000 with high speed transducer and speed/temp sensor for $420 from reeds online, delivered!

i used it a few times already this year, and easy to use controls, even with gloves on,fully adjustable depth, not like the eagles,5,10,20,40 ft,the zercom fully adjustable.like that feature, but there is other features i found out about that make it very user friendly.

good finder for the money, but so is the lowrance also.

Agree with the other posts on the Lowrance X-85, especially at low $299 price. I use X-85 (transom) and X-65 (bow) and no interference!

Don't forget to check out Raytheon. - www.raymarine.com - Their units have lots of features for not a lot of money including side finding capability. Ever fish in a lake where the fish were directly under the boat and no where else? It's great for structure fishing and open water trolling.

The Zercom LPG2000...its better than the x-85. I've used both and the LPG is much nicer to use. Shows fish better.
