Hi

The bays along the south end have 10-14 inches of ice. More ATV's than foot traffic now, with even a few compact trucks starting to show up. The main lake has over a foot in some places too, but this ice is not as consistent/even as the ice we see in the bays. Each day we see more permanent fishhouses and rentals going out. There are a few spots that shifted open as recently as Monday. Some of the resorts are starting to let people through - check with them for the safest path to your "hot spot". There are more walleye than anglers at this point - the folks that are venturing out are enjoying pretty good fishing so far. Ice thickness is decent, but not consistent all over. Slender Spoons and Jigging Raps have been the tops so far. Northern action has been hit-or-miss in the south bays. Suckers or big shiners under tip-ups have been best. Remember all the little perch last season? Well, they're a little bigger! Lots of perch showing up in the holes, but the size varies... sorting is a must! Many in the 7-8 inch range with some bonus "jumbos" mixed in.

The weather for the weekend (as reported by Weatherunderground) looks like this:

Getting your house ready for the ice? We stock all sorts of "fish house stuff" like thermocouples, regulators, 12V light bulbs, mantles, globes, spark plugs, pre-mix auger gas, and LP gas.

Auger dull? We have sharp new blades AND exchange blades in stock for most augers - spark plugs and oil too! Heck, we'll even fill your auger with pre-mixed gas and oil for a buck!

Need help with your last minute Christmas shopping? STOP IN! We have all sorts of gift ideas for your favorite fisherman. Stocking stuffers too! Still undecided? Let them pick out their own "stuff" with a Lundeen's Gift Certificate.

Once again this winter we will be renting FL18's, power augers, Fish Traps and underwater cameras. Be sure to reserve them ahead to assure availability.

Finally... A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse. "But why?" they asked, as they moved off. "Because", he said, "I can't stand chess-nuts
boasting in an open foyer."

We would like to wish each of our customers, subscribers and friends a Merry Christmas from all of us at Lundeen's Tackle Castle!
