Can I please get some information on these rod holders. How strong are they? If I buy them I will be using them for pulling crank baits and Off Shore Planer boards. Can I please get some information from people who use them? Thank you.

Terry,

I used them all season with the in line boards and also used them using dipseys with big 10ft rods they are incrediably strong. I would not recommend them to be used strictly for dipseys, but for in line boards they will work great. I beleive they are the best holders on the market for trolling.

I've used them for 2 years now and like them. They're strong and they sit high enough that livewells and storage lids can be opened without having to mess with the holder.

I agree with the rest, very strong, stable, and sit up so they are easy to work with. I use mine for the same as the rest, in line boards, 3 ways, straight line trolling. I highly recommend these holders.

Terry,

Used them last year with planer boards, dipsey's, and bottom bouncers and had no problems. If you e-mail me I can give you a more detailed advise on them.

I have a set that I was given and they are REALLY loose in the bases (I've tried them in RAM bases, Roberts and Fish-On). They're so loose that I don't use 'em, I'm afraid that I'll lose them bouncing across waves. Maybe R-A-M changed the mold since, but the version that I have are duds.

Best Regards,

I have 2 Ram holders and they are great! Much easier to release / secure the rod holder latch than Fish On Holders. I initially tried the Ram holders in the Fish On Rail mounts and they were too loose to my liking. Got the Ram holder rail mounts and it took all the slop out the holder / rain connection. Fits much better. The taller Ram holders make it much easier to incline your rods.

Just a thought--Tite Loc makes the best rod holders I've ever used and if you look at the big charter boats, these are the ones that are the most commonly used. The tube style are great for pulling cranks with any kind of board system and the fork style, which fit in the same bases, are great for drift fishing, pulling inline baits, and some place for the kids to lay the rod in when they get tired of holding it and they know how to use them just by looking at them.

Yes when they first came out they were pretty lose. They have fixed this problem since last year. A friend sent his in for a free replacement. Forgot if he had to send the base, the holders, or both.

Contrary to most anglers here on WC.com I use my Rams primarily for big catfish and seldom for trolling walleye.

If a Sumo 30# plus cat will not make them fail in warp 6 river currents then a walleye sure won't. Many cat guides use ridged mounts and hard Stanchion sets for cats, I have them too, but I prefer my Rams for ease of use and flexibility of application. From oversized saltwater spinning rods or 7000 series baitcasters, to light dead stick rods, they do the job dependably.

I have see a $300 rod and reel rocket launch out of a Stanchion set from a big cat run, but never on my Rams, so I tend to like the Rams more.

TBO,

Are you referring to the double ball holder or the tube (119/233) type? I have thought about getting the RAMS but haven't made the move yet.

Thanks,

Does anyone know if they make these rod holders in white? All the pictures I see are of black ones.

Just like a T-bird, you can pick any color you want as long it is black.
