Was wondering if anyone has an idea of the dive curve characteristics for the new deep Husky Rapala's. Also trying to determine what color scheme is a "Fried Chicken" reefrunner? Thanks in advance.

I spoke with Den a while back about "fried chicken" reef runner color. He indicated to me that the color is multi-colored. He did not have any available in his store at the time. Hope this helps.

ok here we go. I have a Fried chicken in my hand and I will do my best.
Stating at the top, sparkly greenish blue to red sides to gold belly. it looks to be a gold bait with the others overlaid with clear type paints.
Looks AWESOME too!!
hope this helps you,
Keep Rippin'

I would try to explain the color to you, but first I have to unhook it from my jaw(darn thing looked so good I tried to eat it)! Seriously though, the colors are as described above, and I have been doing quite well with it on King Salmon here on lake Michigan.

Russ covered the color thing, one of the best colors for stained water, or deep smelt feeding fish. The Deep Huskys I would guess go to 22 - 25 feet at Precision Trolling speed (which is 2 mph). They are a boyant lure, and I'm sure slowing them down to the 1.0 - 1.5 that most are running right now takes alot of depth off of them. They will be included in the 6th edition of Precision Trolling which is due out in the spring of 2001. Good luck.

Frogman, Are you flatlining the deep huskys for salmon? Maybe they would work for coho also. What depth do you think you are geting w/them?

Hey Frogman -- how do the hooks hold up after a couple Chinook salmon?

To answer your question, yes I was flatlining them. 85 feet back on 14/6 Fireline with a shock leader of 20# mono. Fried chicken, and Gold Clown were producing very well. As for the next post, the hooks held up well. I was somewhat impressed with the way the fish were hooked in the mouth, and the other hook was caught somewhere areound the head. In this manner the salmon could hardly exert a lot of pressure on the one set of hooks. If you have not tried them yet, the reverse barb VMC cone cut hooks they use are sticky sharp out of the box! Keep in mind I was using my Walleye gear, and honestly I was looking for a few late running eyes to snag for dinner when the King's started trying to tear the rods out of the holders so the rods are not as stout as my salmon gear.

Good Luck, and hope this helps!

If we are talking about the new Deep Husky Jerk, I thought a Husky Jerk is a suspending lure, not a bouyant lure....

I too would be interested in knowing the dive curve. I would guess at least 20 feet with 100 feet of 10 lb mono, because a few weeks ago on Erie we were running them that way, marking fish at 24-28 feet, and then catching the fish....
