I am a recreational fisherman who has enjoyed fishing Geneva Lake for over 20 years and have the Smallies, Large mouth, panfish and Northern solved on this great fishery, but walleyes..............phew, I am at a loss. I have gone out at night several times, fished hard all night, been lucky to get 2 small ones and am exhausted and hungry the whole next day.
1. Any helpful hints or recommendations for a top notch guide/teacher for this spot
2. Are there other locations which produce well I am overlooking which will be as pretty to fish on and more productive?
3. I am on the catch and eat program. Sorry if that is politically incorrect, but one of the enjoyments of the hunt is to feed my friends and family, and we all know it doesn't get better than walleye in a freshwater fish.
Thanks
To catch walleye on Lake Geneva, all you need to do is pull the boat out, drive ten minutes down the road to Lake Delevan and fish there. A few years back a guy that has a house on the lake marked a map for me and I have done fairly good. I stopped fishing Delevan and go to the Fox Chain because it is about a half hour closer, and the fishing is good.
I have never heard of anyone really doing well walleye fishing on Geneva. Bass yes, walleye no.
Go to http://www.1fghp.com/wi and there is a Delavan and Geneva guide named Steve Slutsky.

Thanks Bor,
Are not the limits low and the keeper size very large on Delavan? It sounded to me like they basically wanted a catch and release situation to allow the walleye population to grow, which is fine, but not if you are hungry. I have also done well on the Chain, but the walleye's taste like rubber. Their bite is better than mine I guess.

Don't feel too bad, I too have been fishing LG for many many years and have never caught a walleye. I have fished strictly walleye techniques used on other lakes successfully but still no LG walleye. Once seen a dead 10# plus floating dead once. Had someone once tell me to troll rapalas along the shore at night. I have seen pics and heard of guys catching some lunkers from Oct-Dec. Good luck!
Go to the Pier Bait shop on Lynn Dr., Center south side of lake and talk to John Trossen (owner). He has guided the lake along time. There is an article in the March Midwest Outdoors paper about him and Lake Geneva. I have never personnally used him but I stop at his shop all the time since the ramp I use is right down the street. If you go to Lake-link.com and look at the Lake Geneva report, you will usually find some pictures and reports by him. Good luck! ADO
