Just returned from the Minocqua WI area. Lots of snow and ice still up there, as well as lots of big bluegills. Fished with Mr. Bluegill Troy Peterson and Patrick Sheahan, a guide in that area. Fished several lakes, panfish action was good on all of them. On one lake we were fishing in 13 feet of water, but the gills were down just a couple of feet below the ice. Gills in the 8-9 inch range were common.

Tiny baits were the key.

Saw lots of eagles and lots of really nice looking snowmobile trails. This region of northern Wisconsin, Vilas and Oneida counties, really is a neat area. Lots of history and a real outdoor atmosphere. I always enjoy visiting this area of Wisconsin.

6-10 of us have been going up to the Eagle River and Three Lakes areas in Feb each year for a very long time. This year we tried a couple different lakes and hit paydirt. The fishing was great, the Eagles were flying and the trails were in excellent condition.

Nothing like the "Northwoods"!
