The
Weekend Outlook
5-19-2005
Hi
The opener started out pretty tough for many Mille Lacs anglers last weekend - high winds, rain and cold kept more than a handful of folks on shore. There were a few decent reports scattered around the lake, but for the most part fishing was pretty tough. Conditions for the beginning of this week were similar. As temperatures warm up this weekend, look for the bite to heat up as well. Most of the walleye we've seen so far have still been in less than 15 feet of water. Some of the better spots include Vineland Bay, Agate Reef and out from the "Red Door". Work these areas with a leech or minnow on a 4-6 foot snelled floater. Toward evening, concentrate your efforts on the shallow rock reefs in 6-10 feet - here, a slip bobber with a leech works best.
The surface temperature is 49 degrees.
The night ban is now in effect. No one may fish for any species or possess fishing gear on the lake from 10 p.m. through 6 a.m. starting at 10 p.m. on May 16 and ending at 12:01 a.m. on June 13.
The weather for the weekend (as reported by Weatherunderground
{www.wunderground.com/US/MN/Onamia.html) looks like this:

*Saturday Night*
Mostly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows 50 to 55.
*Sunday*

Don't forget to check out our weekly "Shop Special" www.lundeens.com/shop.html before your visit!
Remember... Sunset Friday is 8:41. . Navigation lights are required from sunset to sunrise. (Remember to keep your white stern (back) light on while still fishing or at anchor. This light must be visible for 360 degrees around the boat and may not be blocked from view (see sunrise/sunset schedule at end of regulation booklet, pg. 85).
The bass opener is NEXT WEEKEND - May 28th.
Finally...
As migration approached, two elderly vultures doubted they could make the trip south, so they decided to go by airplane. When they checked their baggage, the attendant noticed that they were carrying two dead raccoons. "Do you wish to check the raccoons through as luggage?" she asked. "No, thanks," replied the vultures. "They’re carrion."
Have a great weekend,
