I just returned from a fly-in trip to North Caribou Lake in Ontario, Canada. This fly-in lake is about 4 1/2 hours north and east of Dryden at the town of Pickle Lake, and then about 100 miles north by float plane. North Carobou is 82,000 acres of water, with hundreds of islands and rockpiles. most of which are not charted. About five rivers flow into the lake. North Caribou Camp is located on a large island, with great fishing next to camp. There are three cabins with wood stoves that sleep 8 to 12 total fisherman. The more fisherman in your group, the lower the rate. Log cabins are nice, you will need your own pillow and sleeping bag. There is a deluxe cooking cabin set up for all guests to use. It has a big flat gas cooking grill, stove with oven, 3 gas refrigerators, 3 freezers, full utinsils and a large round table that sits 12 people. There are propane lights, showers and believe it or not, flush toilets. Gas fish cookers are located outside the cooking cabin. 16-foot aluminum boats, 25 HP motors with lower unit rock guards, padded boat seats. Bring your own food but you will eat plenty of fish while you are there. You'll need jigs, Powerbaits and Gulp. Hot colors work best in the coffee colored water. I rigged with 10# pink Fireline, Tyger leader and 3" Power Grub or Gulp minnows. I never lost a jig to a bite off. Walleye size was 22" to 25". We didn't fillet any fish over 18-inches. Your Canada Conservation Fishing license is included with your package, and you can keep two walleyes 18-inches and under and one may be over 24-inches. Our largest was 27-inches. Northern Pike went up to 43-inches and 23 pounds. There were lots of 35" fish. Northlands Forage Minnow Spoons were the top producers of big fish.
