BIG SPIRIT LAKE has an algae bloom that has turned the lake into pea soup. Templers Boat Ramp is a mass of algae and weeds, usually requiring a power wash bath to your boat and the trailer. Water is still running over the spillway. You can catch sub legal walleyes and a few keepers off the weed lines trolling Northland spinners. There is some activity in the basin on Firestick Crankbaits and some perch on small leeches and slip bobbers.
WEST OKOBOJI LAKE has good water color. You can get good numbers of sub-legal walleyes with some keepers off the deep weed lines. Morning and evening are the most productive times. There are many pleasure boats at mid-day. Cloudy, windy days are the top producers. There has been a good bluegill bite and some perch action this week. Fish a small crawfish on the rock piles for smallmough, drum and big bluegills.
EAST OKOBOJI LAKE has alot of green algae in the water. There are some small walleyes off the docks in the evening.
FIVE ISLAND LAKE AND STORM LAKE are producing some walleye catches, mostly on Crankbaits and power grubs.
THE LITTLE SIOUX RIVER AND DES MOINES RIVERS are excellent on catfish. It's a great time to take a float trip in a canoe. Stow your shore lunch box and enjoy a catfish fry.
Enjoy every sunrise, keep your line tight and your aim straight.
