just returned from Ca, got over 30 hrs of life out of a 12 volt, 7ah battery with the backlighting turned off. this unit draws 250 mA with backlight on. thought this info may be helpful to someone in the future, because i could not find any info on battery life anywhere, and the fishfinder companies do not like to answer that question.
