I grew up in a family of walleye fisherman. However, I have become somewhat of a "basshead" the past few years. The reason? In my area of Minnesota a good day in the summer for large mouth bass is a couple dozen fish or even more. A good walleye day in mid-summer might be three or four fish. I like getting bites and bass seem to be my best mid-summer option. Plus bass fishing is more hands-on, I am constantly casting versus slowly backtrolling like I often did walleye fishing. Also, I've had a ton of fun learning all the various ways to catch bass. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy catching walleyes but bass are definitely a good alternative. Am wondering how many other converted walleye guys now chase bass?

I hear you Mike. How about this. Bass fishing during the day and Eye's around dusk? That's what I'm doing right now in central MN, even with water temps in the mid-80's I'm finding plenty of walleyes willing to hit crankbaits in and around weedbeds. Fun stuff! Nav

Living close to lake erie i have been know to fish for the "little brown fish" occasionally. they don't call them the bass islands for nothing. Smallmouth has saved many an outing.

Me too. I've always liked chasing bass and pike and didn't do it much the last couple years. This year I'm back into it. I think the draw for me is fishing structure I can see. I love top water but the lake I primarily fish has not had a great top water bite. Wacky rigged worms seem to be the ticket.

good parenting could have avoided this...but it's not too late. Fellow WC'ers, this may call for an intervention, otherwise call (800) bass-anon to get help...LOL
