Weekend Outlook
12-22-2005
Hi
It’s a go! Lots of houses are already placed on the hot spots, and more are going out as I write this. We’re looking at 12-15 inches of ice over most of the lake. Most of the resorts have at least part of their road in place and the bulk of their fish houses out. The walleye bite has been good up to this point, with the mud flats and the deep gravel giving up most of the fish. 7-Mile, Curley’s, 9-Mile along with the 4-mile gravel and Sloppy Joe’s are all worth a look. Start in 25-28 feet with a Jiggin’Rap or Fire Eye tipped with a fathead. For your set line, use shiners with a glow jig. Orange, yellow and gold are your top colors. The perch bite is still decent, but is loosing popularity as the walleye bite “catches” more attention.
There is about 5 inches of snow on the lake.
The weather for the weekend (from the National Weather Service) looks like this:
Friday: Partly cloudy, with a high around 33. West southwest wind between 3 and 5 mph.
Friday Night: A chance of freezing rain before midnight, then a chance of snow and freezing rain between midnight and 3am, then a chance of snow after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low near 23. West northwest wind between 6 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Saturday: A 30 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. North northwest wind around 10 mph.
Saturday Night: Scattered flurries. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16.
Christmas Day: Partly cloudy, with a high around 33.
Sunday Night: A slight chance of snow. Partly cloudy, with a low around 18.
The last quarter moon is 12-23-05
Getting your house ready for the ice? We stock all sorts of "fish house stuff" like thermocouples, regulators, 12V light bulbs, mantles, globes, spark plugs, pre-mix auger gas, and LP gas.
Auger dull? We have sharp new blades AND exchange blades in stock for most augers - spark plugs and oil too! Heck, we'll even fill your auger with pre-mixed gas and oil!
Need help with your last minute Christmas shopping? STOP IN! We have all sorts of gift ideas for your favorite fisherman. Stocking stuffers too! Still undecided? Let them pick out their own "stuff" with a Lundeen's Gift Certificate.
Once again this winter we will be renting FL18's, power augers, Fish Traps and underwater cameras. Be sure to reserve them ahead to assure availability.
