Well, I did it! I retired at the ripe old age of 39. To keep busy and to have a money-losing tax shelter, I have decided to start a guide service. Trouble is, I don't know what to call it.

I'll be fishing for walleyes and hybrid (largemouth/striped) bass on the resevoir lakes, and trout and walleye in the rivers, all in the state of Arkansas. Any suggestions for a business name?

How about "Live'n my Dream Guide Service," which being retired at 39 is something you are doing.

how 'bout "titan line" guide service? or...if named after the tennessee college nickname, "volunteer"guide service, would you ever get paid?
good luck! i've been a fishing guide for 36 years. if done right, it's a hard job, like any other, but very rewarding in the sense of being able to make people happy. especialy the kids... just be a good natured teacher and entertainer and you will succeed.

Maybe something from the "Beverly Hillbillies" :)

I vote for "Tennessee Jed's Fishing Serve".

Then, if it was legal, I would throw in something like "Elly May, Granny and Jethro would like to welcome you aboard, for a taste of our Southern hospitality"

How about Boot leggers guide service or Moon "shiners" Or maybe Hill billys Heaven. Then you could have a bald headed boy picking a banjo up in the bow of the boat!. Like in deliverance!. That would surley bring um in. "COMA"

Another thing is do not lose money for too many consecutive years. I have heard that if your business operates in the red anymore than 2 years out of any 5 years, that the IRS will try to term your business a "hobby", thereby losing all deductions. Don't know how true that is, but FYI.
