I am headed to Okoboji for the weekend and have never been down there before. I am taking my daughter and nephews out fishing and haven't got a clue as to where to start. We are staying at Gull Point Campground and I am hoping that someone can point me in a starting direction. Don't need your hot spots, just some general info on the area like which lake to hit for begginers!
Thanks,

eyecatcher,
The first thing I would do is to check in at Shuck's Bait and Tackle just south of the entrance to Gull Point S.P. on hiway 86. They usually have up-to-date info and have all the bait there you'll need, and pick up one of their lake maps. Just tell them it's your 1st time fishin' the area and they will be helpful. To be quite honest there are so many good areas between West& East Okaboji, and the connecting lakes so. of Trigg's resort on the south side of East Okaboji, that it would take a week at least to touch them all. If you have the time and $, contact a guide from Shuck's listings, the money spent is generally worth it.Hope this helps!! and hey, have a great time.....hope the weather hold good for you. Later..:-)

Thanks for the info and I will check in there and see what they have to say. Should be nice weather anyway.

For the day bite on eyes I would stick to East or big Spirit. Both West and Center have decent night bites right now as well. Panfish should be good as well as bass everywhere. Hope this helps some-Ripper
