Hi

We're seeing some excellent fishing on the mud flats the past 5 days - a good mix of keepers and throw-backs have kept anglers busy so far this week. Sherman's, 7-mile and Seguchie are good starting spots. The walleye have been active from 22-35 feet, but you'll find most of the fish on the deep side of the break in 28+. Leeches and crawlers have both been good. The gravel is starting to produce a little better but it's still a week or so off from "good". In the evenings, look to the smaller rock piles along the south end and the east side. Fish these areas in 8-18 feet with a slip bobber/leech. The bass opener came and went with mixed reports - gusty winds made sight fishing difficult. Many of the smallies are still on the beds... look for them to make the transition to their summer haunts soon. Northern fishing has been best in Isle bay so far - small suckers are working the best.

The muskie opener is June 3rd. There are NO SPECIAL REGULATIONS specific to Mille Lacs - simply follow the "statewide" regulations on page 15.

The surface temperature is 63 degrees.

The weather for the weekend (from the National Weather Service) looks like this:

Friday: Partly cloudy, with a high near 78. North northeast wind between 3 and 6 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low near 52. Calm wind becoming southeast between 6 and 9 mph.

Saturday: Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind between 9 and 13 mph.

Saturday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 55.

Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a high near 79.

The first quarter moon is June 3rd.

Finally... Little Johnny was turning in his final exam to pass the third grade. The teacher remarked," Johnny, your composition on "My Dog" is exactly the same as your brother's composition. Did you copy off of him?" Johnny quickly defended, "No teacher, it's the same dog."

Have a great weekend,
