I have been on the water a great deal lately on several lakes in the area and have had some outstanding fishing action for largemouth bass. Seems like bass can be caught just about anyway you like to catch them right now. For instance, I have had good success throwing Jungle Jigs/plastic trailers and Berkley Flippin' Tubes to shallow cover like reed banks and cutbanks the past few days. In addition, the deep weedlines are holding a lot of fish now as well. Lip-Stick Jig-Worm heads tipped with Power Worms has been the hot ticket on the weedline, though crankbaits have produced good catches as well. Now is a great time to be on the water!

Hey Mike,
We talked a bit about Pelican earlier in the spring. We were there weekend after opener. I think we only got 6 walleyes (3 boats) in the medium size, from 17-22". But we caught enough crapps and sunnies and a few pike to make a nice fish fry Sunday night :)
We also tried Clear Lake by Dalton - nada. And we tried Long Lake by Evansville, and got just a couple tiny eyes. The local guys did pretty well earlier in the week I guess.
All in all, we did not so hot up there this year. Maybe will be better come Oct. when we are up there ducking

(ps, my bro and I and buddy got three 27" eyes (released) and three 22" eyes (tasted good) on a lake only 1 mile from home down here in cities last Saturday. That was a fun morning of watching muskie guys get not much, and us having a blast! ha!)

Box - sounds like you had some fun with the walleyes! I don't spend nearly as much time chasing walleyes around here as I used to (bass have my attention now!), but from what I have heard it has been tough most of the year on the local lakes for walleyes. I hear some scattered good reports, but nothing real consistent. Hopefully it will be better when you return in October.
