Looking for some help on a resort for next summer. I am looking for a lake with islands and pristine shoreline with good walleye, northern, bass fishing something similar I would find in Canada. I go to Canada every other year but looking for something in my off year. Also, family oriented resort that my wife would like. Indoor plumbing, electricity, town close by, tv, pool or beach. Been to Big Winnie but it seemed hard to fish and no islands just open water. Any help would be appreciated.

Look at Roy Lake in South Dakota.

Roy Lake seems nice if you can duck hunt and fish. What time of year can you go up there and do both?

Scot,
You need to check out Hayward, Wi. The Chippewa Flowage. You'll think you are in Canada. Only 7 hours from Chi town. Lots of resort, islands, walleyes and wilderness.

9 hours will get you to Vemilion Lake in Minnesota. Well worth the extra hour IMHO.

Scott -

I would recommend the Turtle Flambeau Flowage near Mercer, WI. It is a 14,000 acre body of water with 100+ islands. Over 90% of the shorline is owned by the State of Wisconsin. There are a few resorts on the Flowage, but the one I like best is called [link:http://www.cryoftheloonresort.com/|Cry of the Loon Resort]. They have 4 very clean cabins on a beautiful 5 acre property with a swimming beach, fire pit, etc, etc. It sounds just like what you are looking for. We can make the trip in about 6.5 hrs from the NW Suburbs.

I agree with Behr. Also look at Kabetogama and Namakan, Crane, Ash River, Pelican Lake in Orr. All are great, and worth the extra hour or so.
