I just finished talking to the US Customs at Baudette and they say "Business as usual". Nothing has changed with regard to using a RBCP and returning to the US waters. They suggested that you do carry proof of citizenship if you are stopped though. They may have boats patrolling the border, as that is in there current duties. I haven't seen a patroll boat any time in the past, but we could start seeing them now. In any case as Ranger suggested "If you have a passport, take it along". The Duty officer I talked to also said it was the best identification you could have with you. GET READY FOR ICE, IT'S COMING.....Kaz

Hi Juls: The RBCP permit isissued by the Canadian Customs which allows the holder to freely cross over into Canadian water at will. With out this permit you can not cross the boarder and land on Crown soil. What was of concern was, that with the tightening of the border by the Canadian Officals, because of 9/11/01, we fisher persons may not have the privilege any more. Also with the possibility of the US patrolling the boarder with the National Guard, getting back may also be difficult. However as on today the US Custom officer I talked to stated "Business as usual". There are no plans to curtail the fishing on either side if you have the proper credentials. Ranger suggested a "Passport" for ID if you are stopped by any border patrol. Hey the ICE IS FORMING ON LOTW....Kaz
