While traveling the Western Dakota's last week. I tuned into a weekly radio fishing program on KFYR Bismarck, North Dakota. It was a exchange from the station announcer and the fishing pro. The pro had been having good success on Lake Sakawea, as he continued to share his tips the show ended with the announcer asking the pro for the GPS coordinates which the pro did share without hesitation. Looking into it further I learn this is common practice for this program. I have mixed thoughts about this, knowing the vast expanse of Sakawea perhaps not a big deal. What are some of your thoughts...thanks for sharing. So really catching fish is the most important facet of a trip apparently.

I don't think I would advertise my best spots. So many people are looking for shortcuts to success, fishing included. I can see where lots of folks would appreciate this information, and it's nice of this guide to be so helpful.

Technology certainly has changed fishing, mostly for the better, but some anglers are forgetting about the telltale signs that Mother Nature provides that can give some clues for fishing success.

Good topic Gary, thanks for posting.

I thought it was weird when I heard that too. Actually one of the guides out their posts his gps coordinates daily and keeps a log of how he does each day. Who is to say they are actually there on not but I guess he wants to help. I just hope it is genuine. I think Lake Sak. is hot, hot, hot right now and you dont need any help from what I heard so maybe that is why. Who knows. Hope I get there soon. Peace out.

Giving out gps info wont do 99% of the people any good. people who want the shortcuts usually couldnt catch a cold without help. I have tried to help people out by taking them to my favorite spots and show them how and what i do. When they go out on their own, they very seldom catch a thing. You can have all gps coordinates you want, but you still have to know how to catch them. Also i have witnessed many times that people don't know how to use their electronics. So giving out gps coordinates on the radio gives that guy a good reputation, but is not really helping the vast majority of people.
