Some friends are considering fishing this lake the 2nd week of August. Is it worth the trip?

The extreme heat has kept many anglers off the lake. Those that do venture out in the early morning or late evening hours are doing well. Casting the shore line Friday morning a couple anglers limited out on some very nice walleye, one northern and mutiple white bass. They were working the islands area. The bottom/bouncer spinner action on the north end of the lake has had mixed results. Anglers report continuing to get some fish, the the activity has slowed. Still no definite action on the perch....everyone is waiting! Again, for the end of July the fishing is very adequate. Water clarity has improved immensely. The folks coming to recreate in the water are appreciating the quality.
Cooler weather forecast later this week will hopefully encourage more anglers to get out on the lake and set the hook!

Thank you for your reply. Do you own a resort, or a place to stay. I know they haven't booked anywhere. I will give them your report and #. Thanks

I've never been to Big Stone this time of year, but have been there spring and fall. It can be very good for several species of fish. I say if you have the chance to go you should go.
Let us know how the fishing is.

No I don't own the resort. I just cut and pasted that from the North American Fishing report page.
A friend of mine as a cabin on the peninsula. I was up there 2 weeks a go and the water was so green you could walk on it. Sounds like it may have cleared up a bit.
