Berkley recently a new color FireLine. FireLine has been around for a number of years and it's really good stuff. No-stretch provides for excellent hooksets and unbelievable sensitivity. It's also very tough stuff.

The only negative in some anglers minds is that FireLine was more visible than mono. The new Crystal eliminates that concern. It is invisible underwater.

We got a chance to put Crystal through it's paces last week and were very happy with the results. We were throwing jigworms for LM bass, some of us were using mono, others Crystal. There was absolutely no difference in strikes, and the Crystal users didn't have to re-tie nearly as much. It also enabled us to land fish in heavy cover that we wouldn't have landed with a comparable diameter mono.

If you've never tried FireLine because of concerns about line visibility, Crystal is for you. It really is good stuff.

Bob,

Interesting ...I have used fireline in the past and loved its sensitivity. I like it for certain applications. It definitely requires a softer drag and, I believe a different rod, to work to its full potential.

On the down side I have seen way too many days where line shy walleyes were reluctant to hit rods spooled with Fireline. My personal experience has shown that on most days that the ratio is about 6-7 to 1 for the mono. The exceptions are when it is blowing hard and it is really rough. Then the edge goes to the fireline about 1.2 to 1.

If this stuff is truly invisible underwater, I may have to consider giving it a try?

BTW, I like the Fireline’s small dia to help get deeper when pulling down deep.

Keep us informed!
