Hi

The shallow rock bite is still the focus on Mille Lacs this week - day or night, there hasn't been much need to fish deeper than 12 feet... in most cases, 6 feet or less has done the trick! Slip bobbers and leeches have been the daytime ticket, while the evening/night bite has been divided equally between the slip bobbers and trolling. The surface temperature has dropped dramatically over the past few weeks - it currently sits in the high 50's. While it will likely remain in the 50's through much of October, I wouldn't wait too long to get a few more "fall" runs in. Smallies have tapered off a bit... northern and muskie are picking up slightly over last week and the perch bite is good.

At this point, all the reef markers are still in the water - this would be a great time to get these spots in your GPS for future fall fishing. Expect the markers to be removed in the next several weeks (as weather permits).

Finally, Ole was sent to prison for his crimes but he told the warden he wasn't worried at all about serving his full term. The warden asked him why, since most prisoners immediately start planning how they can get out early. Ole replied, "Well, my wife has never let me finish a sentence the whole time I've been married!"

Have a great weekend,
