Hi

We missed much of the rain that fell over most of the state this week, consequently very little damage was done to the surface of Mille Lacs. The ice thickness improved the slightest bit (believe it or not!) from what we saw last weekend. The south bays are 10-12 inches thick and most of the main lake is between 7-9 inches. There are still some pockets that run about 4 inches, so be sure to check as you travel. With temps forecasted to drop Saturday evening, I suspect you'll see a fair number of smaller houses going out next week.

The walleye bite has been decent on Sloppy Joes and the 4 mile gravel. Good reports have also come from the Agate Reef area and by 2 mile. Slender Spoons tipped with a piece of a minnow have worked well on the jig lines, while Eye Drops with a small shiner are the ticket under a bobber or tip-up. There are lots of small (7-12 inches) walleye showing up - treat them gently... they're our future! The perch are pretty active, but you're likely to do a lot of sorting. There aren't too many folks fishing northern since the main lake became "fishable"... this might be the sleeper this weekend, as there has been VERY little angling pressure on them so far this week. Run a big shiner or sucker under your tip-up in 9-12 feet of water.

Getting your house ready for the ice? We stock all sorts of "fish house stuff" like thermocouples, regulators, 12V light bulbs, mantles, globes, spark plugs, auger blades, pre-mix auger gas, and LP gas.
Auger dull? We have sharp new blades AND exchange blades in stock for most augers - spark plugs and oil too! Heck, we’ll even fill your auger with pre-mixed gas and oil for a buck!

Need help with your Christmas shopping? STOP IN! We have all sorts of gift ideas for your favorite fisherman. Stocking stuffers too! Still undecided? Let them pick out their own "stuff" with a Lundeen’s Gift Certificate.

Once again this winter we will be renting FL20’s, power augers, Fish Traps and underwater cameras. Be sure to reserve them ahead to assure availability.

Finally, A man walks into a dentist's surgery and says, "Excuse me, can you help me. I think I'm a moth." "You don't need a dentist. You need a psychiatrist." "Yes, I know." "So, why did you come in here?" "The light was on!"

Be safe - Have a great weekend,
