Hi
Ice conditions continue to improve on the main sheet of ice - much of the main lake has 14+ inches of ice. There are scattered cracks that are keeping some areas "off-limits" - be sure to cross these cracks on the bridge(s) that your resort placed over them. About half of the resorts are allowing some kind of vehicle travel at this point... be sure to stay within the areas they have designated for travel. There is currently no snow on the lake. Many/most of the rental houses are on the lake as well as a good number of private houses - and that number is growing by the hour!
The bite is similar to what we saw last weekend - Most of the walleye come at first and last light. There are a few scattered throughout the mid day, but this time is typically taken up with the perch bite. The area around the 5 mile gravel and the "big" gravel to the east of it have given up some nice walleye. The Krause Flat and Sherman's Flat have also been decent. Some of the deeper rock structure in front of Izaty's and by 3-mile have been good for perch throughout the day. Hawger spoons and Kastmasters tipped with a piece of a minnow or a gob of waxies have produced well. There also seems to be a place for a "set" line for the fussy ones... use a shiner on a Glow Drop about a foot from the bottom. The cold temperatures projected over the next few days may make the bite a little tougher, making the subtle presentation a better call. Northern action is steady in Cove with big suckers.

Once again this winter we will be renting FL20's, power augers, Fish Traps and underwater cameras. Be sure to reserve them ahead to assure availability.
Don't forget to check out our weekly "shop special" at http://www.lundeens.com/shop.html
Finally, As salesman was assigned to secure an important client but failed in his mission. He faxed his secretary and asked her to break the news indirectly to his boss. His note read, "Failed in securing client, prepare the boss." He received the following fax from his secretary: "The boss is prepared... prepare yourself."
Have a great weekend,
