I have some relatives that live in Ventura near Clear Lake and we visit them every fall for pheasant hunting from good ol Wyoming. I have always wanted to trailer the boat out there in the summer and try some fishing in Clear Lake but my relatives said it gets to be a zoo in the summer. Can anyone give me some info of best time, presentationa nd any general info? Thanks

I would highly recommend giving Clear Lake a try. Usually from mid-May until end of July can be good for walleyes, yellow bass, catfish, and occasional muskie. You have to be versatile in your presentations including live bait rigs, crankbaits, and slip bobbers. The bullheads can be a pain in the butt at times. If you want to fish and not be bothered by pleasure boaters and skiers fish the early mornings on weekends or better yet weekdays. Let us know how you do!
