The first President I voted for was Jimmy Carter.

Voting should be mandatory in this country. $500 fine unless you have medical, family emergency or work emergency excuse. Come to think of it, every one should be let out of work 2 hours early to ensure that they have a chance to vote.
Maybe then we'd get a real president instead of someone whose just out to impress his daddy and line the pockets of the ultra-rich (aka "daddy's friends").
Don't get me wrong I've loved the tax cuts but there's something wrong with people on the board of directors of my company that own, say, a million shares, get a about $1.3 million bucks in dividents, paying 15% tax when my secretary makes $40,000 and pays about the same rate, bit higher actually. Do what the Canadians do, first 50% of divident income is tax free, rest is taxed at your marginal rate. Same with capital gains, first 50% tax free, rest at marginal rate. Bump the tax rates up a few percent for folks making over $500 k, trust me I know a few such people well,it will have zero impact on their life style and spending habits.
My 2 cents.

My Dad loves telling the story of how at 10 years old he drove a model T ford around the country side and picked guys up to take them to vote . They gave them a dollar when they got into the car and a shot of moonshine when they voted (democrat)only . I have always voted . Too many men gave their life so I can vote (republican )most of the time.

"Voting should be mandatory in this country"
Voting should be an educated, well thought out process. Requiring a person to vote would be disastrous, no matter what party you support.

Move to Canada then. The rich pay way more in dollar amounts and percent than you know. Why should they give their money to all the welfare cases that can work and don't or have babies so they can get welfare benefits, or illegally come into this country to collect welfare. About 40% of people at the bottom of income actually get more in return than they put in. If you don't make enough money to do the things you want to do, go to school....the government will pay for that too.

I always vote. I'll give you three guesses for who, and if you miss the first one you don't deserve two more. Washington's caucus is this Saturday. Dean has to win this state to stay in the race and I'm going to help him lose.

Yes I vote. At one time it was always Democrats but the last few elections it has been Republicans.
When I thought about it the Republicans did more for me than the
Democrats. Issues i.e. abortions, welfare, gun control, less taxes,
gay marriages, nation `s security etc.
I do not vote for the person but for the values.
PS, I forgot to say. We are being watched,by WC.
Did we cross the line? If so we`ll be dusted.

Bump the tax rates up??? For people who make more money??? Hmmm, so if I decide to bust my tail, work overtime,6 or maybe even 7 days a week so I can afford a boat, so I can take my kid fishing, SO I CAN FOLLOW THE AMERICAN DREAM AND BETTER MYSELF AND MY FAMILY, I, should be punished by having to pay a higher tax rate than someone who wants to be lazy and work 40 hours a week, at minimum wage, or maybe I should say union wage???????

I'll guess. You're passing on the democratic caucus because you're voting for George in November, aren't you!!?? :7:7
I don't get the two other guesses, do I??

The voting so far is 25 Republicans, 4 Democrats, 5 independents.
I'm one of the Democrats (how'd you guess) and the other 3 are dead relatives of mine.
Independents are up since last year. I'm really excited about this trend because it means the incumbents are in deep trouble. I can wrap this up on the Night of the Living Dead!

Look on the bright side bud, 'ol kerryaire will integrate our country into the Un. And we won't have use for any more elections, leading to your not needing to resurrrrect any more of your dead voting relatives! :-)
Only then will we all get along!
Oh yeah, the walleyes will be happy too. (thatsmyfishingconnectiontokeepthisthreadalive)

Is the fact the Independents are leading the Democrates mean they are swaying the conservative Democrates, or are they hoping Jesse Ventura will run for President!!! :D
