I WILL NOT capture Gary Grays post by responding to you on that thread. As Gary said, it is good that you were honest and turned this thread back positive but...

Your attempt of humor is in @@@@ poor taste. Granted you quickly said you were joking but what happens when your power goes out or server goes down before responding?

I work for a company that in spite of millions of $ from US military contracts will soon be pulling roots in NY state putting hundreds of both union/non union people in the unemployment line. I am watching guys scramble to sell homes, cars, boats, rv's to keep from foreclosure. I watch my fishing partner Eyedoktr going through much of the same with Kodak in Rochester. I watch another great friend here, Sluggo have 50% of his pension raped when IBM pulls roots from Binghampton NY. I find nothing funny with your lame excuse of humor no matter how brief, retracted or not.

A humble word of advice.. if you need to put a stupid post like that up also in the same message state your 'intent' of humor and, try using a registered name.

Gilligan,
Also from the Rochester area, real familiar with all the EKC job losses. When will NYS start to change their r*** and pillage tax policies ? Until they get serious about reform, upstate will continue to suffer. What is amazing to me is this fact, no Japanese mfg' company has really entered the retail fishing boat business in a serious way. Just imagine if Toyota or Honda or Yamaha decided to buy a major line like Lund, CL, or Starcraft. who knows what that might bring? Also, as Kodak shrinks in Rochester, Fugi is expanding in S.Carolina, and also, recently built a mfg' plant in Albany, NY. Go figure. -- Just some observations, Poor boy

Another excellent example of why registration should be required to come on this site!

Gilligan, you do all of us registered members proud, thank you!

To all those of whom Gilligan refers to, our hearts are with you and your families during this time of hardship! God Bless.

I don't know who "japan fisherman" is, and I do understand the #### you guys are going through, but to be fair to him (whoever he is) ... reading his post again its tone is bitter tongue-in-cheek. Maybe he posted it because he's hurting too, for the same reasons.

In any case, you guys should cut him some slack. He didn't kill those Kodak jobs, digital photography did. He 'fessed up; God loves penitent sinners and returned prodigal sons.

But most important, his post sounds like a cry of pain to me, in which case he needs your friendship right now.

The city of Buffalo and New York State has offered Bass Pro 58 million dollars to bring a store to Buffalo. (No Buffalo jokes needed) The systems broke and this is the solution.
They bring the Governor and Mayor and have anouncements on how great this is and we'll bring jobs.

THE PEOPLE CHEER!

I want Bass Pro 'but my god" take the 58 million and fix the system and the companys and jobs will pour in.
It's not Buffalo's or the states money to give. Their going to get it from me and you.

The train is off the tracks and Hillery is the engineer.

Why would registration change anything?

Its easy enough to fake all the info.

I feel registration is fine for guys you want others to know who they are and how to contact them off the board, but its just as easy for someone who wants to hide the same info to enter in fake info as well.

yes i have been hurt severely by the unions, they wanted more money so they eliminated a bunch of positions and sent them overseas. i was in the union, but i still wanted to work even if i didnt get my 6 dollar an hr raise, i thought 22 per hr was good enough. the union didnt see it that way, demanded the raise, so the company laid most of the workers off and sent the work overseas, nice eh? thank you democrat for you post, i was just trying to have some sort of a sense of humor, i guess you cant on this site. have a great day.

It will greatly reduce the number of pranksters that come on here such as this guy. I relate actions such as this one as a "gorilla" attach. A quick strike from some faceless person who has disappeared into cyber saftey. Most of the time they say things we "should" be able to ignore and move on from, but then again there are cases such as this that strikes at the hearts of many because of the situation in our country today. I think your members would like the ability to hold others responsible for their words, and it would greatly reduce the number of emotional up roars that take place here.

I see that this person has decided to come back and call us a "bunch of babies" because we can't enjoy his humor, and says he won't be back to this site in the future. To that I say "good riddance to bad garbage". We don't need that here.

My opinion only, sorry if that differs from the stance of those in charge of this good site.

I thought the same as I was reading through the posts, but he did come back to set it straight. I've seen alot of "pull the trigger & run" posts lately, and it has kept me from alot of posting lately.

Everyone deserves a second chance.

Take care,

Brad

You stated your opinion and so did I.

No reason for you to apologize for anything.

Whew Boy! It definately is that time of year again...

You Sir, were the straw that broke the camels back this time with these guys. Normally, they DO have a good sense of humor, but once Cabin Fever sets in, everyone gets a little "touchy". There has been a rash of "bad pranks" lately, but they do not come back to apologize or say, "it was a joke", like you did. They prefer the "hit and run" approach. It's very annoying.

Its just bad timing on your part JF. Don't take it TOO personally, and please come back sometime. You might enjoy it.

Don't let them run you off the board. You have NO idea how much flak I was catching at this time a year ago, before politics was evicted from this board. I took them on 20 at a time, and came back for more!

A couple things to remember, though.

1. The spoken and written word are very different things. What sounds funny in conversation may come across very differently in COLD HARD TYPE. And type is always colder and harder than the spoken word, always. It doesn't smile, and doesn't have gestures or inflection, either. It just sits there staring out of the page.

2. Remember Murphy's Law: If something can go wrong it will, and if you can possibly be misunderstood you will be. One of my college professors gave the following advice: "Don't ask yourself if you can be understood, ask yourself if you can be misunderstood." Then, go back and edit it again.

He makes my case for having everyone sign their name to what they post. I've been known to stir the pot, but my name is at the bottom of every post.
I think I'm cranky this week from spending hundreds of dollars on freakin flowers!

Is this another joke or a way to stir the pot? Did the company ask you to join them overseas? Should of went with them I am sure they are manufacturing better products now. NOT!!!!!! Don't blame the union, it sounds like a membership problem as you get to vote on such matters. Corperate greed is the problem. They need huge profits and all the tax breaks....

Your right my friend! Can honestly say that this was a hard learn for me. But there also is the idea that if a person wants to, he/she can smile and be happy when reading COLD HARD TYPE! In this manner many would not take offense so easily.

Never?

Only before I registered. And then I don't think it was more than a handful of times and only responding to posts about fishing. As a matter of fact, this is only the second discussion board I have ever been active on. There are more now, but this was #2. The first was a "hot topics" forum and mostly political in nature.

"emotional up roars " Don't you mean difference of opinion? Sometimes guys just can't stand it when people dissagree with them and then hate it even more when they can't have the last word. But the biggest problem is when they want to control WHAT you think or say to the point that it must be in the same line of thinking as everyone else. Democrat pointed out this tendency in political posts to everyone that jumped on his opinions. After posting his status as an attorney and former judge, everyone shut their mouths and behaved. They did politely dissagree from that point on, but no more "emotional uproars" were heard. Even Rick toned down, lol!

I was registered at one time and unregistered when the complaints about unregistered posts started surfacing. It makes no difference. People can post under any sig. regardless of whether they are registered or not. If there are those who don't like unregistered posts, then turn the channel or don't read them. It's eally quite simple.
