Bob,
I wish I lived in your area. I am from Omaha, Ne. We are thinking of heading to the area this July for a family vacation. My wife wants to camp, so we are pulling our Pop-up camper. I will have to leave the boat at home and will be forced to rent a boat. Can you recommend any camp sites and is there boats available to rent in the area or is there not anything like this in this around? We have never been to the area before and I do not have a lot of info. yet. I am a smallmouth fishing fanatic, so that is the kind of fishing I will be after at the time. Maybe a retal boat would not be an option for this type of fishing during the middle of the summer. Thanks for any info.

SteveA, drop me an email & I'll try to help out with camping and boat rental. I can steer you to a couple good Charter Capt's, It's not like going out with a Capt. from Lake Erie. A lot of the guys around Green Bay & Door County run tourney boats & they usually prefer 2 or 3 guys so your not to crowded. Depending on when your coming if I'm not gone for a tourney I may be able to take you out. I chase Eyes more than smallies, but it's still fishing. Pat rangerpat01@yahoo.com

Steve, I see that Pat is going to help you out and hopefully has some better detail than I do, but in general, you may want to rent a camper or camping kabin and bring your boat, as rental opportunities may be sparse, expensive, and may not be the type of boat you are looking for. As Pat mentioned, there are some good guides available, and you should try to use them for a day or two to get you up to speed on the place. Have fun.

You can rent boats in Ephraim at South Shore Pier. Not really fishing boats however - pontooners. They are adequate for family style fishing and you don't need to go far from their pier to get excellent smallmouth fishing.
If you are picky about the boat you fish in I recommend you get a guide or bring your own boat.
