What gives you the right to bash this product, make you feel tough in your high school computer lab?

Hey lighten up there fella! Take a joke, its not like Ranger or any other boat has had lokes made about them!

not the point

Having other companies products also bashed does not make it right. So this is an equal opportunity bashing site, great. One of these days the owners of this site are going to let unfounded comments slide about the wrong comapany, and poof, this little website will be road dust in the time it takes to file a lawsuit.

Aw heck, just glad I'm not in it....

wow

Thats harsh, it would be hard to file a lawsuit about a joke on a website! I thought it was funny! Take the joke for what it is. Post your name and tell us all that we should not make a joke once in a while. Thats whats wrong with the world today, everyone wants to sue somebody! Once in a while it would be nice to have a good laugh and not here LAWSUIT.

Hey bud, you don't get it.

You can say whatever you want in private. Anything about anything. But once you make it public, it is a matter of slander and/or Libel.

Now, if you made this publicly known in an effort to malign and debase. Then both you (the author of the originating post to this thread), and the website that allows such, IS responsible for this offense and can be sued.

Cut and dried hand over the money!

If it were that simple, Letterman, Leno and a host of other comedians would be getting sued out of business. The test for libel and slander is very steep and you will have to prove that someone was actually attempting to libel or slander "with intent". And to do that you will have to prove motive. And a joke or an opinion is not motive. The judge would laugh you out of court.

I can say what I "think" of a product in public and there is nothing you can do about it. I "can't" say something specific about a product that I cannot prove... Like "boat brand X" IS made from inferior materials. However I CAN say "I THINK boat brand x is made from inferior materials". One statement I have to be prepared to back up, the other is simply a personal opinion... freedom of speech they call that.

Definitions from your Blacks Law Dictionary is a very small percentage of the legal process. You need the court to accept case law that backs your legal arguement. And once you go there, what I said in the previous paragraph is where you will end up.
