This is a two shot question for Lowrance owners and for the President of Mercury Marine.
Was wondering if I can get any ideas from you guys out there on this matter before I pay some tech guy $50/hr to tell me.
I've got the Lowrance LCX15mt unit on my console and it just up and quit working. It's about 2 years old and please tell don't tell me thats about the life span of one of these. What else can I do or check that I might have missed???
I gotta tell you guys/Pres.Mercury Marine, I bought my rig back in '01 "brand new!!"
Lund 1900 Pro V
150 Optimax / 9.9 fourstroke
pinpoint electronics / motor
"all the fun stuff" a walleye guy wants, and this has absolutely been the most miserable experience of my life. EVERYTHING on this boat has had problems!! I've gone thru 2-motorguide trolling motors, 4-different pinpoint sonars, my first outing with this BRAND NEW boat come to find out had a hole drilled thru the hull from the FACTORY....can you believe it!! I've gone thru 2-axles on my trailer and thats not even the end of it. My warranties are up and I'm still battling all the same problems and they want $50 just to get my pinpoint sonar in there and tell me it does'nt work! Where's the customer service??? I'm calling on the President of Mercury Marine to respond and answer this question for me?? I'm not looking for a handout, I worked my tail off to get into my "dream boat" and it's been ####!!!!!!!! I just want what I paid for to work RIGHT!

There's a post on a salmon site I frequent in regards to the Lowrance X-15 and it seems transducer problems are quite frequent. There's been posts from California, Florida, and I think every one of the great lakes is represented by people who have had these units crap out on them.

I think it's over 70 posts already.

I got a few questions, but my questions may help you get some answers.

* X-15 problem: Describe the Lowrance problem in a little more detail. Maybe we can help diagnose and recommend treatment.

*2 troll motor brand failures: You already tried two troll motors and had troubles with both? Well, there is at least one company left. Maybe try a Minn-kota troll motor. Minn-kota doesn't have their huge market share for no reason.

*Hole in boat: What was the location of this hole that the boat factory (supposedly, but may have been the dealer in reality) drilled for no reason? Not to say it didn't happen like what you think, but, extra holes do not pass the float test at the factory.

*2 Trailer axles: If you went through two trailer axles you have too small of a trailer. Or you drive on really bad roads. By going with a cheap trailer, nobody ever saves money in the long run.

*President of Mercury Marine: You did not mention anything about any problems with your Mercury outboards. Thus, I am wondering why you would be asking for the President of Mercury Marine?

Thanks in advance.

I used this company to troubleshoot a problem I had with a Lowrance unit, they checked the unit, there was no problem, and advised replacing the transducer, it works very well now. http://www.seemanelectronics.com/

As a guest here I was unsure if I could post other sites, but this is not an ad, so here goes:

Look in about the top 10 posts for "Lowrance X-15 Problems".

It's a good read. Glad I bought a Raytheon L-750 off E-bay even if it is old technology.

>1]No power, I've checked connections and all...
2]Dealer told me the hole was from factory....who knows!
3]Axles...they insist I have more than enough trailer to handle load/gear and all. [I travel on all interstate highways]
3]I've had several problems with motors
4]Tired of "passing the buck" / excuses, why not go to the top and get the answers I deserve.
You guys all know what kind of an investment it takes to own one of these rigs. Lund Boat / Yacht Club trailer is what I have and all I've been asking is for the products that I purchased to work for more than a season.

What am I missing. This doesn't seem like a boat or motor problem. It's all the stuff you put on it. As stated before you either got a royal gypping on a cheap trailer in the package or you are tough on equipment. No offense intended.

HAWG..you have no idea, I probably had this boat out less than 15 times last year alone, about 8 times so far this year and the roughest water I fished was maybe 1000 acres. Otherwise, where I'm at it's "no wake" lakes. I bought the bought with the intent of doing some tournaments. In the 3 years Ive had this on the water, I've done only 3 because of the ongoing problems. The longest Ive traveled was 7 hours. Like I STATED, I paid for this Yacht Club trailer/boat pkg and all I want is to get from A to B with the same tires!!!

Thank you to the ones that responded in re; to my Lowrance, I checked a few of those other sites and sounds like I'm not the only one. So, thank you again!
I'm not taking affense to any response, Just want answers on why I can't get what I paid for.

No power, but you got power at the source:
That not good. X-15 transducers have had more than normal amount of failures, but "no power up" is a factory fix, if there is power to the power cable and thru the power cable. The factory fix will cost about $130.00, I heard.

Your trailer ought to be a 4000lb. rated or close, in reality. What size trailer you got?

You did have trouble with the engines. OK, I'd call Mercury customer service and tell them your not happy and why. There is nothing wrong with doing that. Be calm, but direct and firm.

I will fix your problems completely. Just send me all your information. I may not get to it until next week, however, because right now I am in the process of forcing down the price of gasoline, returning the water levels of the Missouri River impoundments to full pool, and honest to God, as I began typing this a new world record walleye decided to hit my crankbait. Got to go now, have to get the net.

With all the problems this guy has with his rig and for so long, I find it hard to believe he hasn't posted before. It sounds like a hateful competitor of Lund/Merc/Motorguide etc. Note that he is not registered.
