Not only do we have the best trained, most technologically advanced military, it now appears we will have the most attractive!
It sounds kind of ridicules, but I guess it does make sense.

It makes no sense at all that I should be paying for someone to have elective surgery. Just like it makes no sense that I am paying for a couple of million dollar Nascars to be running around a track. Both are a complete (in my opinion) waste of my tax money.

No wonder they're surprised when they're sent to a war. They thought they were joining a sorority.

I'm hoping it was the female recruits getting the boob jobs.

Amazing...here is a partial list of some of the items we/or our son had to buy for him before deporting to Iraq...
Rhino GPS
Binoculars
Mosquito bed netting
sunscreen
sand goggles
lip balm
baby wipes (to suppliment the lack of toilet paper)
wd 40 and rem oil to keep rifle functioning
As Eyedoktr mentioned about the nascar car, I think it is somewhere around 10-15 million per car and there is no less than 3 big time cars sponsored by the military.

Not sure about the NASCAR costs, but over in NHRA Drag Racing ,the US Army sponsers a Top Fuel (NitroMethane)dragster and a pair of ProStock Motorcycles. Just the the trucks and trailers to transport all the stuff around are multimillion dollar rigs, and usually 1 Top Fuel car needs an initial 1 million dollar investment just to make its 1st run down the 1/4 mile, and each run costs about $5000 in parts and fuel if nothing blows up,several hundred thousand when it does, assuming they didnt destroy the whole car! Plus all the crew chiefs and mechanics. Plus,,I have seen many US ARMY support personal and vehicles (all Hummers) at these races. Also big hospitality tents and recruiting booths. Top Army brass often are at these races. Its all tax dollars spent from the recruiting budget.I love racing, but the ticket costs are high enough,I dont want to pay for it out of my tax dollars too!.

I think you have to look at it in terms of whether it's a cost-effective recruiting tool. The Blue Angels are for recruiting; so are the Golden Knights, the Army's parachute team.
Gilligan, keep those care packages coming. Don't forget to put in cookies. Can't overstate how important those boxes from home are for a soldier stuck in a hot, dusty combat zone.
Been there, done that.

The Blue Angels and the parachute teamS DEMONSTRATE the jobs and equipment used in the military. When can you join the Army and work on dragsters or any of the other NASCAR crap the military spends tax-payer dollars. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MILITARY DEMONSTRATION TEAMS USING MILITARY HARDWARE AND THE MILITARY SPENDING MY TAX DOLLAR ON DRAGSTERS AND NASCAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LAST TIME I CHECKED YOU HAVE 100% NO CHANCE OF WORKING ON A NASCAR CAR AFTER YOU ENLIST IN THE MILITARY, BUT THERE IS A CHANCE YOU CAN USE PARACHUTES OR FLY AIRPLANES.

I've heard the military is issuing a lube oil that causes sand to jam the weapons and many soldiers are asking their families to send the stuff that works.

Rem oil is nothing but 10W single weight oil sold for huge prices in small bottles. Do you think the Army ordinance people know more about M-16 lubrication requirements than some grunt that just joined the Army???? ANY lubrication product will get sand stuck to it. WD-40 attracts water and water causes rust. ALL soldiers DO NOT need a GPS just like ALL soldiers do not need a radio. The US Army has been around for awhile and I trust they have ordinance, quartermaster, and other people in the know to take care of the needs of the modern US soldier. The last thing we need is the moms and pops of the soldiers getting in their 2 bits of not needed info.

That's right, the Army knows best, so those guys should shut up and get with the program. LOL ... by the way, did YOU ever serve in the Army?

jack black...if you need to take shots then have the courage and back bone to say who you are.
Jessica Lynch ended up nearly killed and we foot the bill for her rescue because she and fellow soldiers did not have gps. The military issue ones, if you get one are large cumbersomne and work once in awhile.
I would like to see you out in a sand storm with no goggles, just like our soldiers would be without buying their own. Or laying out in the desert trying to sleep fending off mosquitoes and sand fleas without a net because the military didnt issue one.
Try getting in the shoes of our ill supplied soldier before you show up here critizing them or their parents. But then anyone that cant even post their name wouldn't have the courage to be in their shoes.
