What light is best for the Vexilar for a add on?
I see Vexilar has one but are there other better options out there?
Thank you

Well i have a relative that had a novel idea. If u have an old car or go to the junk yard to find one. find any 12volt light fixture and take it out, then try to find an old stereo antennae and attach it to that. that way when it gets dark out you can raise and lowewr it to desired height. this works very well. Watch vexilar get this idea in a couple of years!!

I have rigged a few different lights for mine as well as some of my friends Ice box.
1. Go to your favorite car parts store and pick up one of the interior 12Volt lights that contain an off and on switch - that can be screwed the side of the box. Typically these are avilable for about $10.
2. Another idea that just came out in the last year or so - is to go to your favorite home supply store - or some car parts stores and pick up one of the LED style lights. The voltages on some of these lights vary - but you can get one for a 12 volt supply. The real advantage of the LED style lights is their low battery consumption. A regular incandescent bulb can draw a fair amount of current.
3. I happened to be in Norther Tool one day in MN, and saw a box of lights that happened to be Toyota auto door panel lights. These lights are normally flush mounted in the door panel of the front doors of the car. These lights happened to come with a three way slider switch - which basically was an off / on / and an on - connection to the normally door activited switch.
I took three of these lights, and mounted them on the front and both sides of my ice box. My box happens to be made of 1/4 inch plywood, and they nicely mounted in the side of the box. The nice things about having the three lights, is that I can light up both holes if I happen to have two holes, or I can use the front mounted light for tying lines etc. Again, because these are incandescent lights - having all three of them on at the same time will drain the battery in a few hours. So - I typically only have one on at a time, and then only when it is necessary.
The typical incandescent bulb, that will put out a reasonable amount of light might draw as much as 1 1/2 amps. Considering the fact that a lot of the gel cells that are on some of todays depth finders are only 4-8 amp hour gell cells - having a light on continuously might limit your fishing time to 3 or 4 hours.
Good luck

Another good source of a light is to simply go to a junk yard and get a dome light - side light or other car interior light from a wrecked car. Often - the junk yard dealer will give you these lights or charge you a nominal $1 per handful of "stuff"
