Detroit River, St. Clair River, Lake St. Clair. Ok ok so I may be dreaming. Erie, or Detroit River would be great. Lake St. Clair would also be a fun one. Next season appears that the Canadian portion of St. Clair may allow two lines per angler. Good luck to the guys fishing Saginaw Bay next week. Shaping up to be some pretty good fishing right now.

Sounds like some great new locations possible. Are they allowing tournamants on Red lake in Minn?
NOt sure but isn't the limit on the lake like two fish?

Detroit vs Erie

If they go to Detroit/Lake Erie in April again I wish they would just pick one style of tourney. Either have it be a river only tourney and no running to the lake or move the event to Port Clinton and make it a lake tourney with a blow day. The river vs the lake is two different tourney styles in one event. I believe no river guys cashed a check against the lake guys this year. Hard to beat those lake fish when you can get out there. So if you stayed in the river you were beat from the start. With the price of gas impacting guys decision next year I would think they would take this into consideration. With 3-5 days prefishing time and two tourney days, the gas bill for that event will be scary. All well, we will go where they send us.

I'd like to see a tournament on the St. Clair system as well. Wouldn't really care what month they had it as the fishing is pretty consistant from May until August.

For the record....Dalzot's, I believe, cashed a check and fished the river.
As for a guess, Central will be IL, LBDN, Mill Lacs

Book It, I beleive you are probably very close to correct. Which is unfortunate as I know of at least 3 teams that won't be fishing next year...
On another note I have heard both the Championship site for next year and Walleye Madness (and apparently one regularly scheduled tournament) are going to be on Lake Erie/Detroit River has anyone else heard this? Fact or fiction? And is this a wise choice of locations for those events? Thoughts anyone?

If Book it is correct,, i think there may be a lot more than 3 from the west who wont go to Detroit for their challenge. It really does become a matter of who has the correct equipment to even have a chance at winning.
John Dalzot did win this tournament last year with 42.6 lb's. This year he finished 20th with an even bigger weight of 48 lbs,, 34 lbs out of 1st. I am not sure but I dont think any of the guys who fished the river finished in the top 15. There were a lot of guys who had a great week of fishing but didnt have a chance because they didnt make the run.
We made the run everyday and can say,it can be a very long run and there is nowhere to hide once you commit. Our rig took a pretty good beatin making the run,
I agree with the other post,, make it the river or the lake.

Dalzot's had a great weight out of the river for 48.42 lbs. However, this was good for 20th place (great finish though) but NO CHECK. Unless the timing is perfect to catch the run of big fish in the river, it is hard for the river guys to compete with the lake guys. Its that simple. This year was a prime example. The gas burned in this tournament was unreal. Gas may even be higher next year. Why burn this resource to that extent when we don't have too to catch fish? If they want lake fish go to Port Clinton we will burn enough gas just launching there but much less than if out of Detroit and having both locations. Allow for a blow day. This is just a suggestion.
Thanks for reading.

Thats pretty sad if your rig took a beating on the days of the tourney going to Erie. That was calm for lake Erie.

YES THE SCHUDULE IS PRETTY CLOSE. NOT DEVELS LAKE AS A GOOD SOURCE TOLD ME THAT THEY WON'T PAY ANY ENTRY FEES. I FEEL SORRY FOR ANYONE WHO SIGNED UP FOR THE SWEET 16. THEY WILL BE GOING TO LAKE ERIE LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AFTER THE DETROIT RIVER/LAKE ERIE TOURNY. FEEL SORRY FOR THE CENTRAL GUYS TO HAVE TO TRAVEL THAT FAR. BY THE WAY THERE WILL BE 3 TOURNY'S ON LAKE ERIE. LOTS OF TRAVEL TIME. I CAN'T DO IT!
Havent fished any of the big tourneys yet in Erie:(FLW,RCL,MWC,PWT); as work prevents it,but, my buddies and I, or some combination thereof, have faired well in the WWA and WBSA. I agree with the fact that this lake takes unique gear and an intimate knowledge of the big water. That being said, I think the draw for participants, crowds, and ultimately viewership, is the hopes and observations of large weights. I think the more tourneys that occur in areas that offer the oppurtunity for 40+ lbs. per day the better. With the weights, come more sponsor and TV money; isn't this the point? I think we would all like to see this sport grow. It will never be as big as BASS as it is Americas fish and tourneys rarely see blow days. Wahtever they decide the MWC is a great circuit!

We made that run from trenton to the islands and let me tell you that i`m a river rat and those waves me me think i was in that movie the perfect storm. HAHAHA!!!!!! It was my first time in rough weather and I think it took 3 days to walk right again. The big fish were in the lake and the weights showed it. Its a hard call but blow days are even harder with a weekend tourney. Who could stay till monday??? Me personally would love to see friday and sat tourneys. Leaves sunday for travel.

The dates that are posted are correct except for the Devels Lake tourny. Casino will not pay the site fees. Also the guys that will make the championship will be going to Dundee MI. Detroit River/Lake Erie on Oct 4-6 '07. Also Walleye Madness will be on Lake Erie on May 10-12 out of Port Clinton OH, two weeks after the April 21-22 Detroit River/Lake Erie tourny. Hope everyone has alot of vacation time this next year.

I believe you on the sweet 16. I ran into Kristine this morning at Coastal Marine, here in Port Clinton. She was talking with Coastal, Mayor Brown, and Duane (our chamber guy). It looks like it will be going out of Coastal, which is an excellent ramp, protected harbor w. lots of slips, and a somewhat short idle to the lake.
Those dates will be good for a good chance of having decent weather here on the lake. You won't have to go very far for great fishing either.

I stand corrected...but agree if they want an Erie tourney than have it at port cltion with a blow dday built in. If they want a river tourney in detroit, than close it off to the river.

its great to see the mwc putting out there dates but how can anyone plan without knowing what cabelas ntc date is.are they going to run into the same problem as last year with teams having to take a buy for the following year?or is the mwc making sure its sponsor doesnt make the same mistake

River/Erie in October? Bet you'd see some impressive weights off the lake.
