2006 Fall Classic was a success. Lots of nice Walleyes on the weekend. Mista Walleye made it to the Prize Podium. Caught myself some pretty nice lunkers. 30 inch and 28 inch Walleyes visited my live well for a bit. A couple local boys picked up the big prize. If you'd like to check out the results you can go to; http://www.redlakefallclassic.com/html/results.html
The fish population in Red Lake is definately live and well. Anyone needing some info on Red Lake can contact me at mistawalleye@hotmail.com
Happy Hunting

I met Gary at a sportshow a few years ago, and talked to him here at the classic. Seems like a class act to me, his partner seems pretty shady. But I don't know the man.

Congratulations on making the prizes Mista. What kind of weight did you guys bring in? I heard the winners were a couple of Red Lake locals. The tournament sure sounds like a quality event!

Duanne is my partner for Emo Walleye Classic and I also met with Gary and they are both good guys. Can't see why anyone would call him a turd, unless someone tried to pull the wool over his eyes and got caught. But Hmmmmmm, tell us why you say such a thing and you can't say your name....hmmmmmmm, maybe CHICKEN is the word for HMMMMMMM.
Hey Duane is a great guy, abviously u dont know the man or u are jealous. Tony S

Just read some of the posts about the walleye fishing in Minaki. The guy raped the resource for a quick buck. But thats another post.......
Define rape the resource?
If u are referring to havin a bunch of cabins at avery reasonable rate then u are jealous. If he provides cabins to ppl who have to watch thier money and still enjoy one the most beautiful places in the area that is a very positive thing.MY guess u are resort owner who want to charge big money for your cabins and cant get it.Maybe its time for u to pack it in and move to wpg in an partment.

hey Toney how was Red Lake? Wanted to fish it but to busy at work and the wife and daughter wanted to go to minaki(non stop action all weekend, hard time finding good slots all to big) nice to see a local team do well. What was the winning method and area fished? All the pros emptied out the bait stores Quality baits only had tiny minnows and no leeches. See you on the river.
P.S. Paradise cove and its owner only provide the lodging, its the fisherman that rape the resourse.
Hey Dan,
I agree that it's the fishermen catching their limits, eating a shore lunch, then catching their limits in the afternoon and eating that for dinner and repeating that all week, all summer... thats pretty hard on the river. Duane is in Minaki offering good lodgings at an affordable price so everyone, not just the rich can enjoy minaki. Hats off to the man, no one else can figure out how to do it and make a living.
I saw someone comment in another thread that the Gary Roach Pro Am can only draw 24 boats cause of the bad fishing and crappy new limits. I believe it's because the tournaments are not advertised very well and the other arguments make no sense... the fishing is AWESOME and DUANE himself said no big fish this year cause he wants to protect them. That's fine by me. It takes just as much if not more skill to catch 5 nice 17+ inchers than one 28" in a tournament IMO
J.P.
And not to start any fights with the Red Lake locals or anything (because I love Red Lake), but the fishing in Minaki was WAY better than Red Lake this year, and that includes Gull Rock. NO comparison actually. More fish of every size.
Hi Danny Red lake was good was in 11th after day one,day two
was good but had a 24" and 26" walleye that got stressed and lost that wieght blew probably a 7th place finish. It was heartbreakin to lose thse fish at 2 in the afternoon but thats tournament fishin.Savin myelf for the canadian championship. All out fish came out of big sand danny on crawlers and leeches.Fish im sure will be startin to move.

I live in Winnipeg and have fished Minaki since 1985 and Red Lake since 1995. Because of driving time, for a day trip Red Lake is out of the question. I'd rather fish LOTW out of Kenora than fish Minaki. My experience at Minaki is that it is heavily fished by a large number of fishermen and guides who mostly fish the same spots.
LOTW has a lot of boat traffic but is relatively lightly fished. And has more places to fish than Minaki.
We usually fish Red Lake for 1-2 weeks and it has never let us down. Over the past 20 years I can't say that about Minaki.
Definately not over fished the last two years, hardly anyone up there

This is a good reason that tournaments should be regulated more. Killed 2 female walleyes, there goes a ton of eggs next year. And this is only 1 boat. Congrats on killing the producers just to win some money.
first they were realeased before they died, secon they were males,3 rd where u in my boat sir
And i let all the fish go in prefish go except for a few for a meal that day

When have you ever seen a male walleye in Canada over 22".....NEVER.
Do me a favor, spellcheck before you post so I don't have to decipher your code.

How am I unreasonable? You never answered my question. I already know the answer and so do you. You know darn well that those fish were females. Happy fishin to you too and next time think how many fish you are killing for the future when you "release" another stressed big FEMALE walleye.

Tony: I guess H and finger got stuck on M is probably a disgruntled public employee with nothing better to do. They typically don't have all the facts. It is usually better not to debate an unarmed opponent.
