Not sure where the information is coming from, but I am activly persuing locations for 2007 and 2008. I am hoping for Green Bay for the next stop. Anyone up in the area to put in a good word for the event??? To avoid conflict with MWC, we are looking at June 8 and 9. The location and date will be announced on our website as soon as we solidify.

Eric,
Thank you very much for the clarification.
It still amazes me how much "stuff" flys around the rumor mill without actually having any facts.
Green Bay would be a great location...and the communities around there support tournament fishermen from what I can tell.
Good luck,

June on GB would be a great event.

Eric, who have you been talking to and who can we e-mail to help PUSH the subject in Green Bay?

Try looking into Sturgeon Bay. Great ramps, fairgrounds close by. Its more than capable of holding a big event, the Sturgeon Bay open has proven that. I have wondered why the MWC, PWT or FLW have never run out of there, maybe there is a good reason.

I've heard smaller circuits in the pass have not been as well recieved by Sturgeon bay. Perhaps it's an economics thing with smaller circuits?
But I agree, would love to see some bigger scale tourneys out of SB later in the summer.

Sturgeon bay in june? That would be quite disappointing. Late August? Much better

That would be a tough bite I think as well.

Any time during the summer if you look at motel room prices in Sturgeon Bay they will scare you. Hard to find much for under $100 a night on the weekend. Green Bay in June might not be too bad, but there might be some long runs. In Wisc, there are better spots to be in June IMO.

Green bay would be a good choice, the runs are not huge but healthy. There is fish to be had from the river to the mid point in the bay.

Good point...Sturgeon Bay can be very "touristy" and is expenxsive for most things. Green Bay is a much better venue IMHO.

Correct you are, Bernie regarding lodging. I don't mena to Hi-jack this thread, but I'm curios, Bernie, did you experience any issues in holding a tourney in SB with the Chamber or city?
Back to the topic at hand, I think it would be great to see Cabela's come to Green Bay in June. Good fishing, good venue and plenty of good people, and hopefully some good weather.

The tourism people at Sturgeon Bay were good to work with. However, they really didn't seem to understand the impact of a fishing tournament very well. They were definitely more in tune with the desires of people from the city who go up there on the weekends for shopping, antiquing, cherry picking, etc, etc.. They went through the motions it took to bring us there but didn't ever really go out of their way for us.
Overall, I like the community, and the boat launching facilities are very good. I tend to think the fishing would be a lot closer there later in the summer. Of course then the boat ramps are plugged up with salmon anglers.

I thought Cabelas was trying to cater to all sizes of boats, getting blown off Green Bay doesn't sound real fun! What is plan B?
GO VIKINGS!!!

Bay de Noc was big water and they planned adequately for it.
Green Bay, depending on launch will have some protected areas that time of year.
This past weekend made me laugh...I finally realized that even though it is a small body of water doesn't mean it can't get big...and honestly that is more dangerous. There is some predictability to the big water lake like Michigan, Erie, Green Bay, Bays de Noc, etc...but try to run 2-5 footers on a reservoir where the wind is blowing 40...same problem or worse if you ask me.
Nowhere is safe from wind and that is just part of angling and it is up to the promoters to make the right call.

I couldn't agree more. Eric, anyone you need us to call let us know. Green Bay June 8th or so could be a great bite. Escanaba would be even better that early in June. Would take atleast 23lbs both days to win. I'm sure the chamber here would be more than happy to do whatever they had to do to get you back. Either one would be a great choice that early. Menominee, MI wouldn't be bad either.

Nothing like busting your hump all season to qualify for the premier week end fishermans tournament, and you want to go back to "BIG WATER", and "LONG RUNS".
Unfortunately you don't know the bite in Green Bay in June. If they hold the tournament out of the mouth of the river at the Metropolitan Boat Launch, the furthest you would have to run for good fish would be about 15 miles. If the temperatures are right, good fish will be within 1 or 2 miles of the landing (river mouth). That would be the best time of the year for cattering to people with smaller boats.

We ran about 38 miles on the mississippi river at Debueque (for nothing mind you). Long runs are part of the game. Deal with it.
as for Lower Green bay, It's not much worse than any other big inland lake unless it's out of the NE. And there's still plenty of "safe" water for a blow day.

This is great Eric!! I am happy to see that you and your staff are working on this now and getting the location and date set for next year. I know that this will make my life a lot easier for the vacation schedule and other tournaments that are being held around the same time. You have my vote for Green Bay!! I think that it will be a excellent location!!

Rick, perhaps you should start at the top of the thread before you begin belly acheing. If you had, you'd notice Eric Banks has posted that they are interested in going to Green Bay in Early June. IMO, this info is a much better start than the last couple of years.

What's your problem Rick Meyerpetter (if that is even your real name), or should we call you by your other alias's, Red@GreenBay, Iowa Varmit, Ranger Dud, or Barkn Bill?
Eric said in his post (#6) he is working on it.
Think you can do better? Start your own circuit!
Keep it up and all your posts will be deleted.
