I here you Captian Walleye , too many free Lunds rides around. Why should us comsumers pay for the free ride ? That's why I bought a Alumacraft Tournament 185 this year.

That tournament is blind-arse luck. Equipment is certainly not a factor. Anyone can win that tournament. A 16 foot with a 30hp works fine in this social outing.
All you do is get in line with 200 other boats and drift the same drifts as everyone else and keep out of people's way.
The skill test is about the same as for playing Keno.
During this past tournament, the weather was great, and the fishing was great. People had fun and some won money, some of which was added in by the boat company you make fun of.

Congrats to all those who cashed.

You mean the free boats they give as prizes?
Or, are you under the assumption that all these guys blowing smoke about getting free boats are speaking the truth? ;)

I don't know about Canada, but in the States, concerning TEAM LUND Pro-Staff goes, there is a very small number of very High Profile guys... mostly very well known PWT Pros who get "free" boats for a year. I'm pretty sure, you'd recognize all of the names. It is a really short list.
(Keep in mind, they still have to pay for the motors, trailers, and electronics).

Advertising is advertising. This way (boats given at tournaments) the actual fisherman have a shot of getting something back, instead of some advertising agency getting all the money for services rendered.

I guess I don't understand the rub? (Sorry).

How about the staff running around with new boats every year?

"Staff"...?

Do you mean the company management? (Tom, Andrew, Larry, etc)?
Those "staff" boats get sold to dealers who want them at the end of the season.

If that is who you mean, don't you think there is value in having boat company executives who are really into fishing, who actually fish tournaments, who understand a walleye fisherman's needs?
I think it is very beneficial to have boat company execs who live, breathe and dream fishing? You just can't explain the needs of a walleye boat to somebody who doesn't fish. These guys are passionate about walleye fishing. They love the boats and the sport and they do it. File it under research and development, if you wish, but it helps make better designed boats. They make it happen.

Please bear with me...I am only trying to understand your ire and also trying to explain the marketing involved.

Staff Yes , To name a few? I hear stories of back door deals on boats being sold? I know someone that is a friend of a staff member that has turned over 3-4 boats in the last year? ( Inside Information ? )
As far as advertising & marketing the company could save some money & reduce cost to the consumers. At my company for every $1.00 we spend , we have to sell $7.00 to break even?
