Thank god these guys were on the ball- who knows what could have happened? With all the bad people out there it's a good thing to see that these feds would take time to do something like this! Whew! (did you detect any sarcasm?)

Unless I missed something they were just responding to a complaint by a customer and apparently the restaurant was in violation of federal law. It seems that the problem that you have should be with the person who lodged the complaint, not with the agents who were just doing their job. I agree, it sure seems like a waste of time and energy.

There is an old saying, "If you can't do the job you are hired for, do something, even if it is wrong".......How stupid, I would be ashamed and embarrassed to do something like that.

I don't think your adage applies here. The Federal agents WERE doing their job. If you want to blame someone, blame the legislators who passed this law in the early 1900's blame the person who reported the violation, but don't blame the agents who had no alternative but to enforce the law. Let the courts decide who is guilty of what. That is not the agent's job.

Yes, that's just what I want....law enforcement officials who get to decide for themselves which laws to enforce and which to ignore. I am also a bit tired of people's sarcastic attitude toward law enforcement and the military. Pick on all the politicians you want...they absolutely deserve it. But lay off those in the government who are only trying to do their job and protect this country to the best of their ability. (And yes...they probably were embarrassed to have to do it.)

Fish and Wildlife agents acted on a complaint of illegal possesion of a Migratory bird and you're giving them a bad rap. I guess I don't get your complaint on this one. If it was a Bald eagle would that be any different? No. There are certain things you can't have. Just because it was a Gull doesn't mean it was a lesser offense. If you want it changed, write to your Senator or Congressman and get things changed to add a Grandfather clause for animals stuffed when they were still legal to obtain them. If they didn't come and take the bird they wouldn't be doing their job and then you'd have a legitimate complaint yourself. I just think you're wrong here, sorry.

I agree with you 100% Bob, the LEO's (Law Enforcment Officers) were doing their job, enforcing the law per a complaint, and in this case likely not one they looked foreword to doing. I doubt they left there high fiving themselves, and from the reading of the account, sounds like they went out of their way to diffuse the issue by not leaving there with bird in hand so to speak.
Yeppers, if'n ya got issues with the laws in this land, take issue with the politicians and lawmakers, those who make and create them. Go to the polls and do your job as a citizen and vote them out but stay off the backs of those sworn to uphold and enforce the laws and those putting their lives on the line each and every day to ensure your freedoms!!!!!!!!!!!

Well said. I don't think that you can fault these guys for enforcing the law after a complaint is made. These guys do not get to decide which laws they want to enforce today and which ones they can ignore. If they could decide what laws to enforce, they would be sidestepping the legislative branch and judicial branch. If you do not like the law(s) you can vote for someone that will change them or attempt to persuade the people in power to change them.

How much do you want to bet the complaint was filed by a member of PETA, who thought the bird wanted to be free (forget the fact it was dead).

Hi,

This a genral forum and you are entitled to your opinion. I also am entitled to an opinion. These folks bust their asses everyday, many have died so you can post your little tongue in cheek posts and comments.
To these men and women who take your safety and the safety of all of us very seriously I'm sure they really appreciate your ####. You've got every right to say what you say but I find it ironic that the very reason you have that right you see fit to mock. This is nothing personal sir. I just don't think a fishing website is a proper outlet for shoveling this kind of crap. Just my opinion.
