Ware R Da Bears fans? Pretty quiet for a Monday night. It is not that cold for hibernation. Must be watching the Packers on the tube. I wonder if Da Bears fans will be this quiet next Monday night. Da Bears had a wake up call yesterday. Which is just what the Vikings did not need them to have. Still Da Bears played well with the exception of Grossman. Speaking of the Vikings, some games you just cannot give away. Gifts of 2 - 99 returns for touchdowns, giving up 405 yards passing and losing a on side kick and still the hapless sheriff and his parakeets couldn't bring this one home. As the headline in the Mlps. paper said today, "A win is a win..." Now, where did we hear that before?

One BEARS FAN here, I said a week ago if they did not start putting points on the board, they will not get by the first game of playoffs and I thought another Bears fan was going to burst a gasket with all of his STATISTICS. I am however hopeful and happy they are where they are, and very happy living in Minnesota, with the purple pukes sucking. Watch I will have to eat those words next week. When the Bears clinch the division I will be happy, and then it is one game at a time. I still say they are no power house, but I am a Bears fan have been since 1958. ALWAYS WILL BE Goooooooooooo BEARS.....

Our bet wasn't 10 crankbaits of your choice if Da Bears win. Just 10 crankbaits. I have been saving whatever crankbaits got snagged up off the bottom or I found floated up on shore, rusted off hooks and all for you. I may even throw in a few old Lindy shadlings. Now if the Vikings win...
True, Da Bears are weak at the quarterback position. On the other hand look what Baltimore did with a limited offense a few years back. I would not sell Da Bears short.

Ya need to clean up that run defense and get Grossman settled down. It's one thing to light up the Vikings, it's something else when Seattle or Dallas shows up.
The Bears are playing in the weakest division in the NFC, the playoffs will not be a cake walk for them.
Funny that a team that's 9-2 gets trolled...... by fans whose teams are below .500.....
The Bears need Rex to play smarter. He will.
The Bears need to find a pass rush when the front 4 ain't getting it done. They will.
The Bears Offensive line needs to protect Grossman better. They will.
The Bears Coaching staff needs to make better adjustments and game situation decisions. They will.
The Bears need to fold, bend, spidel and mutilate the Vikes next weekend. They will.

now that Seattle is at full strength, I don't think the Bears will get by them. Gross-man is playing terrible and after seeing Urlacher lose his jock from a simple head fake from Brady, I am starting to wonder about him too. By the way, did you see the survey on the most overrated players in the NFL voted by their own peers? Yep, Urlacher was on it and that's with other NFL players that were voting, how can you argue that. The pipedream is over!

Grossman's 23.7 quarterback rating from last Sunday certainly does not qualify him as one of the great football minds of our time. Sorry about that one Behr, Da Bears fan. I think you are being blindly optimistic about some of your predictions.
Honestly, you have to enjoy watching Da Bears play football this year and it is even more fun to rattle the cages of Da Bear fans who inhabit W/C. Which is why this post originated.

Funny how you Vikes fans forget, that AT HOME The same team that just beat the Bears beat the snot out of you. Was'nt that game the 3rd in a row on the east coast for the Bears???? Yes and they went 2-1 against The Giants-Jets-Pats. Now how have the Vikes done again in their last 3 games? Thats right they got DONE at home by the Pac, got beat by San Fran and Miami, BUT on the bright side they beat one of the 3 worse teams in football at the dome sunday (barely)!
Now you might be thinking playoffs but I
d bet the farm that the Queens can't beat the Bears and the chances are very good they will lose atleast 3 of their last 5 games. (Bears,Jets,Pack and the Rams are better teams this year!

The only thing that I have to hang my hat on regarding Rex is that I've seen him play lights out. Not once, but realatively many times in his short career. H3ll, he's 14 or 15 and 5 as a starter. I just think he's got the early career 'bret farve syndrome' (and I'm only comparing his inconsistant play, not that he'll go on to have a Farve type of career) He's just got to work thru and learn as he goes... and he will (oops, there I go again!)

Absolutely, and it's a long season and odds were that they were going to slump a bit during it... Just hoping they can un-slump before the playoffs.... actually, before next weekend would be nice.

If the Bears continue to play to their opponents level, I would have to give the Vikings a good chance to win on Sunday. Face it, this year the Vikings have more experience playing at a low level than the Bears do! :rotflmao:
Seriously though, the Vikings are probably going to go in to Chicago wanting to shut down their running game and force Grossman to carry the team with his arm. If they do that, it's anybodies game.:arse:
Personally, I think Grossman lights them up. Darren Sharper has already opened his mouth and has called out Rex..... Won't he look foolish when Rex's game gets well at his expense....

You have to know that the Dome is probably the hardest place to place for any other Division team.... just because the Vikes kept it close that first game doesn't mean they'll do it in Chicago. The fact that Sharper is squaking to the media before the game is the motivation technique of a desparate man/team.
I'm a fan of a 9-2 team with the #1 defense in the league who has the reigning Devensive MVP on it. Like another Bears fan wrote not too long ago:

Interesting that you would mention Da Bears Super Bowl Shuffle being on Beta tape. Some might take your reply as meaning the last time Da Bears fans had anything to cheer about (other than the last two years) Beta tapes were popular.
Da Bears/Vikings Sunday matchup should be interesting. The Vikings are coming in as big underdogs. Based on their play the last 4 games they should be. However Miami was a big underdog when they played Chicago.
A simple side note. This week the Mlps. paper reported a first round draft pick Vikings receiver who has dropped eleven passes this year was punched in the face outside a bar after 2:00 a.m. / Charges were not filed. Rumor has it the same reciever got his hands on the assailant, but somehow he managed to let him slip through his fingers. Reassuring to hear Da boys are preparing so hard for a tough game in Chicago Sunday. Well,I have found 8 of the 10 crankbaits I may owe Reels when this ones over. Still looking for a couple of Lindy Shadlings.
Hey viking fan you mention Beta as being the last time the Bears won a Super Bowl. When exactly was the last time the Vikings Won one, OH that's right NEVER. How many times have they made the appearance to the Big show. Is that a record? The big L here.

At least the Vikings have had some respectable teams in the last 21 years! The Bears have been the laughing stock of the NFL for so long that nobody can take you serious when you finally get an average Defense. All the Vikes have to do is put a little pressure on the Gross-Man, he will throw the ball to purple all day long. After further review, Da Bears still suck!
YEP I agree with you in the last 20 years they have, NOW only if I recall right as I am so old I forget, in that 20 years they have clinched the NFC North 6 or 7 times and about to clinch another. HAVE had a couple of 2nds, 3rds and so on I believe I would say, their about as respectable as the rest of the division, Now I think the other years Green Bay took a good share of First and If I recall a Superbowl in there somewhere.
Would you fill in the VIKINGS for me. GO BEARS!

If I'm not mistaken, the Vikings have more division titles since 1970 than all the other teams in the division..COMBINED!!
I looked this up a couple years ago, and that was the case then, and I don't think anyone was close enough to have that change since then.
Hey, with the Bears and their fans; The highs are the highest (as in greatest team of all time [http://tinyurl.com/y6dypa] ; best RB of all time; Best LB(s) of all time), and the lows are, well, pretty low. But you know what, I'll take that over the frustrations the Vikes have had, choking whenever they get close to the big prize (or not so close lately).

Yeap, still true.
Thru 2005, according to NFL.com the Vikings have 15 division titles since 1970.
Chicago...7
Green Bay.4
Detroit...3
And another FYI for you to keep in mind, especially since the Bears are such and old and storied franchise. At the end of last season, only one team in NFL history has more playoff appearances than the Vikings, the Cowboys. The Giants are tied with the Vikings in appearances. So for a team thats been around for about 40 years longer than the Vikings, I wouldn't get to boastfull.
Lastly, the expansion Vikings beat the NFL Champion Chicago Bears in the Vikings very first game as a member of the NFL in 1961, 35-13. I guess Halas was really p.o.ed after that game!!:boohoo:
History does have a habit of repeating itself from time to time.
>Chicago...7
Correction: After this weekend, this number should be '8'
And I'd venture to say you might as well add another 3 to 4 as well, by the looks of the rest of the division for the next few years.

OK everyone, let's count division titles since '85. Bears '86, '87, '88, '90, '01, '05, and now 2006, for a total of 7.
Vikings, '89, '92, '94, '98, and 2000, for a total of 5.

10 crankbaits it is. No, more like 11 crankbaits. If you want them by Christmas you may have to come up and pheasant hunt with me to get them. I may be down to Dubuque for the NPAA meeting.
Congratulation to Da Bears for clinching the division. The Vikings, Packers and Lions have proved there wasn't much competition in the NFC North this year, BUT a win is a win. A division title and a 10-2 record is impressive and deserves a congratulations from all of us. Good teams find a way to win even on bad days and Da Bears have certainly demonstrated that this year.
As to Da Bears playoff hopes. Grossman certainly worked his magic against the Vikings 30th ranked pass defense. Grossman's record breaking 1.3 ( Yes that's right! A 1.3 rating!) quarterback rating against the Vikings did little to bolster anyones confidence in Da Bears playoff chances. The rest of the Da Bears offense did not inspire much confidence either.
The (premature?) "Super Bowl Shuffle" that appeared in this post leaves one to conclude that does takes more than wishful thinking and possibly a little barley pop to declare a Superbowl victory.
Right now, it looks like all Da bears offense can do is "Shuffle". Unless a miracle happens Da Bears offense will be their downfall in the playoffs.

I think Viking Fan spoke nicely, I also believe there is not a Viking, packer or Detroit fan who would love to be in the Position us Bear fans are in.
I also think any team can be beat on any given day regardless, Myself I will take this year as a good year of being a Bears fan, win or lose in the play offs, and will gladly take anything they do in playoffs and I will cheer them to SUPER BOWL one game at a time.
If they make it I will be happy if they don't they don't.

It's a long season and the Bears offensive slump will not continue into the playoffs. Just consider the fact thay the offense has slumped badly, but they continue to win games, including this last one by 10 points while having a QB with a rating of 1.3 for the game.
Grossman doesn't have to improve much to cement the HFA for the playoffs. And he doesn't have to improve much more to win those home field plkayoff games.
I still think the Bears are odds on favorite to go to the SB out of the NFC.

Bitter loser? How about a realist? Come on now, I was not in the stands in Chicago yesterday when all those Bear fans were booing Grossmans performance. Even when he ran off the field after winning? What should we call those Bear fans? Bitter winners? Do you boo a Superbowl bound quarterback in Chicago? Those Bear fans weren't singing The Super Bowl Shuffle were they?.
Can you say B-A-L-A-N-C-E-D A-T-T-A-C-K? That is what Da Bears will need to even get to the Superbowl, much less win it. Baltimore won with a weak offense and history has shown a few other notable exceptions. Odds are it won't happen. Still it would be nice to see Da Bears defy the odds and win it all. As a realist however, I don't think it is going to happen. That viewpoint does not make me or anyone else a bitter loser. Just a realist.
Just a friendly suggestion - in the quest for a super bowl victory, you may at least consider the need for a quarterback with a QB rating higher than my college GPA.
:P
