ya gotta wonder whats goin on with these athletes...tank williams? i think thats his name, on bears, is out late at nite less than 48 hrs before a major game a couple weeks ago...his bodyguard gets shot and killed...i wonder where his work ethic is out so late less than 48 hrs before a fairly important game...one of my staff dates a guy who is 24-1 heavywt boxer...i mentioned this late nite stuff to him and he relates no way would a serious athlete do this...they get paid so much and seem to take it all so much for granted...probably a lifestyle that we couldnt even imagine and it catches up to them...steve...it is very sad tho

Unless I didn't read it right, I believe this was [after] there last game.
Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
Even if the only thing I learn from you is what not to do, I still learned something.
That is right.
It was after their loss to San Francisco, which effectively knocked Denver out of the playoffs.

There are thousands of senseless shootings each and every day. What's so shocking about it?

When Tank was in that club, he was already suspended from the next game anyhow for getting caught with guns in violation of his parole. Hey, give the guy a break.

There is nothing wrong with a white hummer limosine and 2am. Assume what you want but don't paint this with one brush. Just because he is out late, likely partying with some friends, does not justify losing his life to some wacked out jealous loser. These are the biggest cowards on the face of the planet.
In fact, there is nothing that justifies this senseless act of violence.

Unfortunately murders like this and many others will continue till we see justice carried out like in Saddams case. Tried, convicted and executed. Personally I think out justice system is getting to be a joke. You stand a better chance of going to jail over animal abuse rather than a crime against a fellow person. What we need is an exile island, two counts, and you are committed to exile as you have shown you can't live among the civilized people.
All I have to say is... Get use to it! you are going to see a whoooole lotta more of this. This country has been run to the dirt by very, very poor managment we live in country of moral-less people, America is get rich or die trying mentality and worse is Americans have excepted this, envy it and incourage it! just look at our movies and television and when it dosent happen to them will all sorts of things like this happen.
Back to the basics= family values and a moral code= healthy society, this simply is a reflection of our society and the times we live in, we are hurting as a nation.

Duh, it was New Years Eve and you're making a heck of a lot of assumptions there buddy. Show a little respect for a young man that was well liked and had made something of himself and has lost his life!

i could care less about the gun violation but just the thought of him out so late before a crucial game says a lot for me...he just aint hungry still...plain and simple...as for the denver fatality...i realize their season was over...just think they were probably up to no good and it caught up with him...speculation for sure but i'd bet there was another side to this story...there usually is...these guys are spoiled brats for the most part...terrible role models, for the most part, and just let all their money get them into all sorts of problems...for the majority of them...steve

Mike Shanahan called Darrent a "first class young man". So what part of the newspaper articles give you any evidence of Darrent being "up to no good"? I think you guys are disrespecting this young man with no good reason. How do you know he was a "spoiled brat" or a "terrible role model"?

People with "good old fashion values" don't say bad things about other people, especially without any proof.

My condolences to the player and his family, but when you are out at 3 a.m. the people you meet are not likely to be Sunday School teachers.

so sad. the world has changed so much. i grew up with mickey mantle, willie mays, bart starr and the like. think the worst news at that time was that some violated their teams' curfew and were fined by the team. seems that only billy martin got into trouble.

all ya gotta do is look at our professional sports figures...i realize i am generalizing, but generally speaking, one is able to draw resonable conclussions about our sports idols...most are overpaid, and have very poor ethics as to their responsibilities as role models..and as professionals in their respective fields....when i get done with my work, i dont go gallabatting all over town in limos...nor would i be found in a bar at 2 or 4 am before workdays.....whether he was not designated to be playing or not, he was on the team and representing that team...good role models...tiger woods...great example of a dedicated professional from what i am able to see/hear...somehow he doesnt seem to be the kind of professional to be at bars w/in 36 hrs of a big tourney...nor would i expect him to be out partying after a loss..i'd expect him home with his wife...and my guess is he'd be home with his wife even after a win...professional sports is all messed up and most of you know it...mike jordan was repeatedly seen by clients of mine with a woman on each arm entering casinos...and neither woman was his wife...yep, another great example of a respectable professional...no...another example of a professional sports figure who the money got the better of and who is not a good role model for our youth...steve...and i could go on and on with other examples...notice i said "most of"...meaning there are a few who the money and fame hasnt ruined their lives...

The Broncos season was over. Darrent had attended a private birthday party for a Denver Nugget player with several other Broncos players. It was also New Years Eve. You're suggesting Darrent made a habit of attending bars and partying after a game, but you don't know for sure. A lot of people in Denver are saddened by this tragedy. All I'm saying is show some respect for a young man who has lost his life instead of turning this into a public commentary about how you think sports figures act. If you want to do that, start a different thread.
