What's the Ice situation on Mille Lacs. Is she starting to freeze?

TALKED TO FLAGSHIP RESORT LAST NIGHT AND THERE IS ICE ABOUT 25 YARDS OUT INTO THE BAY BUT THEY DID NOT SAY HOW THICK. IT'S GOING TO BE AWHILE.

Today's paper said that there is skin ice on the south bays, but nothing that will support a man or house. Boats are still running, though. Hmmmm.
They also said that on December 17th last year there were close to 1000 houses on the ice. Talk by the DNR that they might extend the season could cause more problems then good. I would hate to be a resort owner right now. What a bad year for them, 2001!
Pull out the boats and take advantage of the blessing in disguise!

It all begins and ends at the water's edge...
With the wind of the last couple of days and warm weather - virtually all of the ice has been blown back out and melted.
When the weather cools, we will start making ice at the rate of an inch or so a day.

With a lack of summer/fall pressure because the slot change and now a lack of winter pressure due to weather, can you imagine how good the fishing will be next spring!?!? 148 days till opener...and in the mean time there is always the Ole Miss to keep a guy fishing.
