Me, my brothers and my father are looking at taking a fishing trip to Northern MN in mid-May. We need help finding a lake. Normally fish Woman or Boy Lake near longville, but are having trouble getting accomodations and we would like to try something different.
Anyone have any suggestions of where to go? We primarily fish for walleye but enjoy bass and northern as well. Lake must be smaller than 8,000 acres (don't ask why:) since my father doesn't like being on anything bigger. Need to decide soon as things are filling up rather quickly.
If anyone has suggestions and/or phone numbers of resorts I would greatly appreciate it. Tips on fishing the lake would also be appreciated. You can email me : ncavanaugh992@msn.com

Thanks,

I have had good luck at a resort in Backus MN on lake Hattie. You can only access it through a resort. We always stay at Rest in the Pines Resort Rt. 2, Box 192 Backus, MN 56435 218-587-4446. There are also some real good lakes near by if you want to try different water. We always do really well. John the owner is a real nice guy.

Good choice. Hattie has good crappies and walleyes, and lots of bass and pike for those so inclined. No public access on the lake so it's underfished in my opinion. Great all-around lake. Rest in the Pines is a good choice, my family stayed there a couple years ago, and the cabins have all been remodeled since then. Tough to get a boat in it though, Depends on what kind of a boat you have. I put a small aluminum Ranger in and out of it with some difficulty. There's a better ramp on the west side now, I'm going to try to put my 619 in it this spring. The owners of the new ramp charge $5 a crack to use the ramp.

Have you tried all the resorts on Woman Lake? Try All Seasons - simple but fisherman friendly...

If you don't have a list of Woman/Girl Lake resorts, I can get you one if need be. I would think there would be a vacancy somewhere among all those resorts.

Tough to get a boat it? Do you mean it is hard to trailer it out? How far is it from Minneapolis? How big is the lake?
Is it close to Brainerd?
Thanks,

Roughly 45 minutes north of Brainerd. By hard to get into I mean the ramps are poor. Go here and take a look at the lake info:
