I have been looking at buying one of these boats, seems like a nice layout for Walleye fishing. Any comments from someone who owns one, I know they are fairly new, but would appreciate some first hand feedback.
thanks

Thread search for 1850 Reata or 1860 Angler will give you quite a bit of information for them. Still want to get mine with a 150 HP Opti and 9.9 pro-Kicker fully broken in before I give a complete report.
I've had mine for about a month now. It's the third boat I've owned since 82 and this is the one that I've been waiting for.
Wider and deeper than my previous bass boat, but still able to get it in the garage. Plenty of front deck - I like to cast and jig rather than troll - but there is plenty of room in the back for passengers (or for trolling if I decide to do that) I've got the walk-through windshields and Maxxum Pro 80. I love the center rod storage, the center battery storage, removable carpet, and the Ranger finish and trailer are second to none. I went with the 175 Opti and it basically just jumps out of the hole when you punch it. The Smartcraft system gauge is fantastic. I've only got around 13 hours on it, and no real rough water testing other than the outrageous chop from the weekend recreational fleet, but it rides very nicely - I have no doubt that it will easily handle the windy days on the big water in Canada.
I'm not sure what sort of things you're looking for in a walleye boat, but I can't imagine you'd be disappointed with an 1860.
Rich
I've had two Rangers and my second is an 1860 Angler with a 175 Optimax plus a Merc 9.9 Pro Kicker. Its broken in now and I've had it in smaller waters as well as Lake Michigan and Lake Winnebago. My impressions are that it is a good walleye boat and trolls easily with the Pro Kicker below 1.5 MPH if you are pulling crawler harnesses.
The layout is good and there is a lot of rod storage. I do like the fact that the deep cycle batteries are below the rod storage locker. In terms of performance, it is not a speed demon and mine will top out at WOT at the mid 50's & that is fast enough for me. The boat feels rock solid at speed & that inspires a lot of confidence especially in rough water. The hull shape throws water to the side very well and it is a dry ride. I'll admit that I'm a Ranger fan, but I do believe that Ranger has an very good design in this boat.

Been in mine since the end of March. 175 opti and 9.9 pro kicker. Been out on Erie 3 time's and lake michigan also. Not been out in really rough water yet. 1-3 ft'rs at tops. Boat jumps on plane nicely have ran 51 on gps, but I bought it to fish 3 and it does that very well. Walk thru windshield is awesome and it is definately a dry boat. I have had a livewell issue but took it back to the dealer and they said it's fixed. Leaving now to pick it up..
Don't see how a person couldn't be happy owning this boat..

Regarding the 9.9 Pro-Kicker on the static plate, those that have them, is the pro-kicker attached with only the two bolts that screw down against the static plate or are the kickers bolted to the back of the static plate as well. Thanks.

I wonder what this boat would be like with a PRO XS 175 Merc?

On my setup, the Pro Kicker is bolted through the static plate on the lower part of the bracket and the upper part of the bracket has the two bolts that press against the static plate. That kicker is SOLID.

As to the original posters question as to why I went with this boat...first and foremost garage restrictions, it is only 20' deep(don't know why they build them that way down here in subdivision land in Ohio but that's another story). So I needed a boat that would could come close to fitting in the garage and then have the ability to easily move it or swing it. So I needed a heavy duty single axle trailer. Also I fish walleyes and muskies. This boat rests very level in the water for muskys and has a big dance floor in the back for walleye trolling. That left a few boats in the running..Triton 177, Lund Pro-V 1800, Alumacraft, etc. Rod storage was also a consideration as the locker on the 1860 holds those 8' musky rods. But, if my garage was bigger I would have purchased a used 620 or Triton 202, 1900 Pro-V or something similar to meet my needs.

I have had mine since April, I have an F150 Yamaha and T 8 kicker. Would have both of them again. So far my only complaint is that I haven't figured out how to load it easily as I fish alone a lot . When there are two of us, it's easy to load. It's very stable and have had it in rough water only one day, it surpassed my expectations. It rides well, trolls well and the 101 Terrova is really great. I fish the Missour river most of the time and so far the boat handles that well and is very manueverable. If I had to re-order, I wouldn't get anything different.

I have had my 1860 for a month now.
Went from Ranger 692vs to the 1860. No regrets. The boat is no speedster but I really like everything else about it. I have a 175HP ETEC - 36 Volt Minn-Kota - Bob's Jackplate - SRS seats with suspension pedistals & Dual Lowrance 38C's on it. It handles the rough stuff very nicely and is nice and wide with plenty of room front and back to fish. I like the layout and storage. It is the first Ranger I have owned that I actually fit in. It has the legroom I need behind the dash. It also fits in the garage and I can maneuver the trailer easily. It is the Ranger I have been waiting for. I have had Ranger 680c,681c,681VS & 692vs. They were all good boats. I think the hull & deck design and wider stance makes this one shine over my past Ranger's.

Thanks for all the replies everyone, it sounds like this is the boat to go with. I am no speed demon, but just curious what kind of speed you get out of the 150, from the other posts it seems about 51-52mph out of the 175.
thanks

The ones I have looked looked at had not carpet on the floor behind the windshield. I'm guessing that is the standard and then the snap in would be a option.

I have only been able to put 12 hours on mine ( just got it 3 weeks ago) but it has been the best 12 hours I have experienced in a boat.
I have a 150 Yamaha and was able to get 50.5 MPH on the GPS.
This one came with the snapin carpet in the back which I really like(or my wife does) and the 80 lb. Terrova workes great on this boat even in 15 mph. wind.
Before this I had a Lund 1800 Fisherman and the difference in the ride and performance is night and day.

The 1860 comes standard with the textured fiberglass floor in the cockpit area. It would certainly be very easy to hose/scrub it down. The snap in carpet is an extra cost option. Mine fits great - snaps right down, no wrinkles, no moving, etc. You could forget it's not permanent. It's nice to have the option to have it either way.

Just coming to the end of my break in with the 150 yammie and got 49.7 on gps in mild chop. Have yet to catch a walleye at that spend. Love my 1860.

1860-52MPH-GPS-ETEC 175. I have been fishn Muskie, not even a follow yet @ 52MPH. Probably too slow for proper presentation on my eagle-Tail.

Sorry I missed your post earlier on the speed. I'm not into speed and only opened it up one day briefly with a full tank of gas, T 8 Kicker and water in the livewell. Got to about 47.5 with some chop before I let up and I suspect it probably had one mile or so left for top end. I'm very happy with that as most of my driving is in the 30 mph range and on the river a lot slower than that.

The ranger 1860 angler does have the snap out carpet avaliable. I have had my 1860 now for 2 months it does have the removable carpet. It isvery handy for cleanup. The YAMAHA 150 4-Stroke is an excellent pick for this boat, was surprised with the hole shot, top end also is descent, just over 50 with two passengers.
