What would be the best gps for the buck ,forget the Lorance stuff it interfers with the Pinpiont graph.Garmin or Rayethon?Pro and cons and best mapping ability,c-maps-or Naveonics?Any help would be great.

Are you looking for a handheld or fixed mount either way i have 2 garmins and love them both....Instigator

I have a Garmin 162. I bought it last year and wouldn't be with out it. It's very user friendly,( I'm not an electronics wizard ) and for the price ($400), I don't think you can do better. I also purchased the instructional video for 20 bucks. Its o.k., but I think you can get by without it. I bought the model with the external antenna and it does a fine job.
I bought it in the winter, so I set it up in the house, (stuck the antenna out the window) and played with it a lot in the simulator mode.

No matter which one you decide on, they are an invaluable tool!
