I use the BPS P&K Walleye angler 8'6" telescopic rods. They're a great rod at a great price. Usually around $50.00 but have been on sale for $40.00. There are other great rods by St. Croix and Loomis but you can buy 3-4 P&K rods for the price of one of these. Just my 2 cents worth...For the lift check out www.goldeneyeproducts.com
" Fishing is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope "
Check the post under "telescoping rods".
The St. Croix may be a little more, but they are hand made and have a lifetime warranty (which they do honor).

A couple of notes:
1) P&K rods are fine rods at a retail price of around $50. The St. Croix GT80M is a very versitile telescopic glass trolling rod that retails for around $90.00. The quality of the St. Croix is the difference. With glass trolling rods look at the handles, reel seats, guides and guide wrapping to help you determine the quality of the rod as you shop. The weight of the blank is also a factor as a glass blank will be heavier than the graphite blanks you may be used to.
2) St. Croix glass rods do not have a lifetime warranty but have a 2 year warranty. St. Croix's warranty service is legendary in the industry. My experience has been that there are very few problems with the St. Croix glass rods(I've never had any-I've seen car door damage:-)) as the blanks are more durable than graphite, the construction and components are 1st rate.
There are many fine rods and rod companies that will make rods for many applications and prices, enjoy the shopping. Good luck and good fishing.
I guess I should check before going off second hand info on the rods.
Seeing one slammed in the door of a rod locker was enough to convince me, but a car door, ouch.
Again, my apologies for the misinformation.

the P&K rods by bass pro make very good trolling rods, both for long lining and planer boards. they are a good rod for the money. i don't think you can go wrong buying them.
