Why is it that power pro 100lb is supposed to be the diameter of 20lb mono (and it looks about that size) but you can only squeeze about 100yds on a 6500 spool. The spool is supposed to take nearly 200yds 20lb mono. It doesn't really matter but it's always puzzled me!
Yes the fishing has been a little slow!

I believe there is a large variance in mono thicknesses, just check the packages. I think the 6500s are rated for 245 yds of 14 lb line, and I believe that would translate into about 175 yards of 20 lb. However, it depends on what mono they are referring to. An actual "line class" mono is usually thinner than a standard mono. This is because a "line class" mono is actually designed to break at its rating whereas a standard mono usually won't break to a higher weight. For instance, 14 lb regular Stren may not break until it hits 18 or 20 lbs and 20 lb line may not break until it hits 25 to 30 lbs. So, a 14 lb line class line may be equivalent to a regular ten lb line and that might be what ABU is referring to.
Hope this makes some sense.
Good fishing.
