I am thinking about upgrading to a Pinpoint 36volt trolling motor when the Minn Kota auto pilot gives up. First off does anyone have any feedback on the 36 volt Pinpoint? reliable? Second Question how well does the depth track work in 3 foot waves? Third question how about the shore track feature how well does it perform when following a weededge to a clean shoreline?
Thank You in advance for your input.

I can't say about the 36 volt, but I have the 24 volt 3700 and love it.

I've found that the depth track works pretty darned good, regardless of any wave size that I've been in. The shore track occasionally gets tricked in heavy weeds, but it's simple to take manual control, get it back on track and resume auto control.

Until someone else comes out with a better system, I'll stick with my PinPoint.

I have mixed feelings about the Pin Point System I have the 24 volt setup on my 619, I ran the Auto Pilot for three years prior. What I can tell you is that the Pin Point works great on well defined sharp breaks or humps, but throw in wind in excess off 12mph on a Leech and the system loses its ability to keep up, the boat gets blown off the break and the motor will hunt for the correct depth, many times turning you in a complete circle.
Having said that the more I use the better I get at it, the trick is to learn its limitations, I know where and when I can use the system, and I can tell you when it works its shows you the exact lay out of breaks or humps, you will fish parts of humps you never knew existed. Instead of drifiting across a submerged hump you will follow say the 14' foot break around the entire hump allowing you to continually cast to the middle. The system basically draws you a map of the structure.
