depends on what early is, but this week we are having morning action starting around 8:00. With days being shorter, I'd fish 8 or 8:30AM to dark(6:30 or so). Last weekend fish were biting mid day and evening, but that won't translate to this weekend. The temps are not that cold yet, and fish will bite at any time(especially on the river systems).

With limited time on the water left this year, I try to get every cast in that I can. Muskies are cold blooded. Whatever the water temperatures are, they are. If you bring the right bait past the nose of the right muskie, it will hit. The issue is more keeping yourself comfortable. The fish aren't waiting for an alarm clock to feed. The best time to go is when you can. Don't waste your time in bed!

sure enough most of my fish take the lures between 11am and 2pm. Very few get caught near the evening or early in the morning. Even 12 'o clock would be a better time. Of course, fishing stays (luckily) fishing and you never know when they are going to strike. I like to be out there as long as I can, even though after 15 years of fishing for notherns, I can say I hardly ever catch a pike before 11 o' clock. If I do, this mostly means no more fish that day. And I hasten myself to add that this will be different for all anglers. Just go out and try!

divani, Where do you fish for pike. On the flowage system I fish, the biggest girls(through the ice that is) bite about 8-9:30 AM, and again around 2-3:30 PM in mid winter. Good luck to all!!!
