How do you calculate L X G = W

There's two commonly accepted formulas that I know of. One is (L x G x G)/800. The other is (L x G X G)/754. I believe the second one is suggested for fish that are more solid throughout it's entire length.

For those that really want to know the weight, there's a much better method than using an arbitrary formula that depends on specific shape of the fish. It's called a "Shimano 100lb Digital Scale". Hook it to the net & weight fish + net. Fish = Total weight minus weight of net. This minimizes handling of the fish, especially if you fish alone. :-)

In a recent copy of InFisherman I saw (LxLxGxG)/45450 . Supposedly more accurate for larger muskie, pike, etc.
